fredericks: (IRod - Starman!)

Friday was the first day of Comic-Con. It was interesting, if really crowded and cramped (damned Jacob Javitz). I had fun, but there were too many weird guys and half-naked "models". Why can't there be a middle ground somewhere? I'm hoping to check it out some tomorrow if I get enough studying in. There's a panel of sorts on the phenomenal growth in yaoi manga sales tomorrow evening that I'd like to sit in on. I'm thinking of picking up a work just to see if I can stomach it. Not that I have a problem with male/male action (duh), but my first forays into manga were painful. I just can't seem to "get it". All the yaoi they have there is wrapped in damn plastic so it's a one-shot deal. I should just get it from Amazon and then send it back if I'm unhappy. Hmm.

They actually advertise the Guys Gone Wild videos on the television? On a channel that isn't LOGO? Wow. Color me surprised.

I know [livejournal.com profile] frostypickle tagged me, but that meme's website is down. I'll do it another day. For now here's a return of the number meme because I intend to avoid sleep for as long as I can.

Holy crap, you went to Comicon? Awesome! If I paid you could you get a signature from some famous Marvel writer, like Joss Whedon or J. Micheal Strazinski? Haha, you could even get him write something about the Ariel comics on it. ;)

Joss isn't going to be there. Neither is the Strazinski fellow you mentioned. I'm pretty sure I passed a lost Claremont as I was leabing, though. And Cassidy, the fellow who was the artist for Whedon's Astonishing, run was there signing at the beginning. I didn't bother to get anything signed because I had enough problems trying to walk up and down to see what was going on. I didn't want to bother with lines. And I would have felt uncomfortable asking someone to sign for me when I was only passingly familiar with their work.

Funny enough - have you ever read Box Office Poison (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1891830198/sr=8-1/qid=1140883660/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-3505535-5611844?%5Fencoding=UTF8). I have, and I liked it a lot. When I went to the Top Shelf table there was BOP along with Craig Thompson's works and Alex Robinson's (the BOP creator) newest book. I picked it up and flipped through, not really checking out the gentlemen behind the table. One of the fellows just nodded at me as I was flipping through. It was not until the guy on the far end started chatting with me (shocking the hell out of me; something I noticed - you really don't get much in the way of notice if you're not a)a stereotypical guy comic fan or b) a really attractice girl at that con, and I'm neither of those things) that I found out the dude standing behind Alex Robinson's comics was actually THE Alex Robinson. I felt so embarrassed not to have acknowledged him before that I didn't say anything. I was hoping that Craig Thompson would have been there but as far as I know he and Top Shelf had some sort of falling out...? Meh. The world of comics.

Ya know...........I mentioned to my boyfriend a long time ago that I should create "Guys Gone Wild" videos. I'm just sorry I didn't do it, if I did, I'd be a millionaire, right? D'oh.

That looks like a pretty interesting book. I just might have to check it out.

Oh man, I really would like Claremont's signature. I have tons of respect for the guy, he does so much for the X-men universe. I mean, he may have his faults, like the thing he does where some of the characters in his books always identify themselves in the third person as well as identify their powers (which I've always found ot be bothersome), but you've got to admit, the guy works his arse off writing. So yeah, I'd pay you handsomely if you could get him to sign something, and extra if it relates to Ariel comics. :D

Aww. :( The chances of me going back today are slim, as I'm already guilting like crazy over not studying yesterday. I would go to try get something for you signed tomorrow but the Claremont stuff was yesterday only. I'm sorry.

Those bastards stole your idea. Sue 'em for a cut. :)

*grin* I was highly amused and a little peeved they didn't have guys showering together and making out with each other the way they show the women doing in the Girls Gone Wild commercials. Oh well.
