I caught Superman Returns in the IMAX at Lincoln Center on Wednesday. I liked it, but I don't think I'd have liked it half as much if I hadn't seen in on a big screen with the big Bose boom and the (twenty minutes of) 3D. I thought it was rather slow-paced and saved mainly by the borderline bombastic nature of the few and far-between action sequences, but I chose to take the slower pace as a homage to the 1979 version. Jo and I have made plans to see it tomorrow afternoon (first time for Jo), although I do worry I'll find myself slightly bored this time around as I might be looking out for the big scenes while internally bitching about all the callbacks to Chris Reeves and Supermans I and II. I'll see how things work out.

I finished a book last weekend that *wasn't* a trade paperback or a graphic novel AND I managed to get a good chunk of my clinical homework done ahead of schedule. I guess I need to do the whole "no internet/no cable" thing more often. Though the "dogs going nutso over firecracker blasts" bit I could have done without.

In closing, as I sign off to the distinct sounds of thumping/spring creakings coming from the floor above my head - I am QUITE tired of having to listen to my youngest brother engage in masturbatory acts. My GOD, he needs to absorb some more of that Catholic guilt and be more undercover with it. *ahem*

Perhaps he's just jumping up on down on the bed? Could be innocent....

I have to wait aaages before I'll see Superman, 'cos it's not out here until next week, and by that time I'll be in France and god knows when it's on over there! Much sadness.

I'll keep telling myself that.

Maybe it'll come out in France at the same time? Hopefully. Besides, you'll be prepping for work and in France! Supes should be the least of your concern.

Ah, the joys of teenage brothers. I am debating on paying money to see Superman. I think I might wait until it makes an appearance at the $1 show.

*grin* Only place I've seen those one buck cinemas was in Florida. We took our grandma to see X-Men in one of those. The ambiance wasn't the best but you really can't beat a buck for a movie on a large screen AND A/C.

Ours is pretty good. You can buy actual food and beer, sit at tables and watch the movie. I saw Lord of the Rings 8 times. There was a brew and view in Chicago that my friend took me to but the floor was sticky and it smelled like old beer.

Yeah, despite being a hardcore Marvel fan I did like Superman Returns a lot. I'll be honest, I bawled like a baby around the end.

Oh God I am SO glad my room is far far away from my brother's (probably more for his benefit than mine...)

And he's taking long showers now. I'm well aware that it's all natural and such, but I can't contain the sigh. And the occasional eww.
