1. Do you really make wishes when you blow out the candles on your cake? - Idly. I used to, when I was younger, and I took my parents ardent "make a wish!" as a command, not a suggestion. I recall wishing for things like friends, a new bike, motivation. Nowadays I feel certain some small part of me wishes for more wishes. And an apartment. Oh, and love pops up when I'm feeling particularly maudlin.

2. Have any of the wishes ever come true, if yes? - Not directly after, so I don't think it counts. I've gotten all that I mentioned above except for an apartment. I think I would have preferred another bike to love, to be quite honest.

3. How do you feel about birthdays? (e.g., love the attention, just another day, don't want anyone to know my real age, etc.) - I loved them when I was younger. Not because of the whole present-cake-eats trifecta (although? pretty damn good), but because of my mother. She used to work nights and when she came in she'd wake me and my brothers up, prepare us to face the grind of private school. Some days she'd be grumpy (who could blame her?), some days she'd be okay. Well, when it was your birthday she was just a ball of energy: she'd come in the room all smiles, snuggle you while you were in the bed while singing "Happy Birthday" to you in her less-than-perfect but oh so sweet voice in-between punctuations of kisses. Then she'd go "up up up! gotta face the new year!" get you out of bed so you could engage in a groggy and sloppy form of calisthetics, laughing all the while. Both of us, laughing and smiling and just *bright*. I miss those days, although they've set me up so I keep expecting to start my birthdays on an up note and, well, I've been let down for a good long while now.

4. Tell us a favorite gift you've received, or something you'd really like for your next birthday.
Tangible present? Don't think I have a favorite. I never really got anything noteworthy. A sincere word is always the best gift in my book. I'm pissed that I keep expecting this awesome gift that I've been waiting my life for, the thing that means the other party really really *gets* me. Then again, as I don't know what that would be myself it is a bit ridiculous.

5. What flavor cake? Tiramisu which, *fine*, it's not a cake. Angel food with fresh strawberries second.

Tiramisu is surely the King (or Queen) or cakes. I don't care if it's not a cake, it's just...the best.

Nice use of 'trifecta'. Kudos!

That's a sweet little birthday story. I wish I had a sweet birthday story. Aw. This birthday's gonna be lame.

*grin* Hal Sparks never did top Dave Foley on my list of Guys Who Look Damned Good in Drag, but he was a close second. You watched QAF then, I'd take it?

Tiramisu is soooo good. Your mission? To hunt some down. It's also rather easy to make as long as you can find some marscapone cheese in your grocery store. Basically it's the cheese (like a very mild cream cheese), ladyfingers that have been dipped in coffee, and sugar. Yummy yummy for the tummy.

Thanks.

It's good stuff. Now I'm really craving it.

*grin* Your icon? I've seen the one that uses tea. Gotta say I prefer yours more.

Really? *grin* It's nice to hear from people who are new to it. What do you think so far? Be honest and take up as much room as you like. I like long responses. :)

I LOVE IT! can't say it in any more words than that. can't wait to see more seasons either. too bad I didn't get to see it while it was playing on tv, I feel like I'm late catching the QAF bus. ;p
needless to say I have a big crush on Brian.

*grin* You're in the US, right? He's on a new show that's going to start up on FOX. I think it's called "Vanished" or something like that. Reviews aren't that great so if you want your Harold fix I suggest you tune in early.

As for my reaction to QAF...I really liked it for the hotness factor initally. It was the first bit of television I went fannish for (I'm not counting my continuing animation love). Bought a DVD player and the first two seasons in one go just because I'd become enamored with Hal Sparks via VH1's "I Love the ____" series and I watched clips of the show and thought it'd be interesting. As time went on I became a little disenchanted with the writing. The shipper wars in the online fandom also turned me off to the whole thing (weird, I know, but it did). I think the US version definitely has the hotness factor, but the UK version has much better writing. Less fanciful events and the characters are just more believable. I'd volunteer to convert you to the UK side by sending you a copy of the series but I lent it out to someone who apparently can't manage to post things back. Not that I'm bitter, of course. Anywhozit, YAY for QAF fan solidarity.
