fredericks: (Wanna nut?)

Comedy of fricken' errors, that's my household in a nutshell. Mom was supposed to pick up dad from the subway, dad jumped right on the idling bus instead of waiting *then* called the house, dad swears brother said mom was upstairs, brother swears he said mom left ten minutes ago, dad comes in wondering where mom is, mom's cell phone is non-functioning so no one can reach her, brother pulls out to go find mom at the subway station, brother meets mom as she's turning onto the block, mom and dad proceed to yell at one another, Fredericks retreats to her room with a cool glass of quality H2O.

::sip:: Ahhhh.

I cleaned my room! sort of. It's a task I can't manage in one go, as the space is small but the chaos? tremendous. Today I tackled getting rid of all the superfluous paper, and I'm pretty sure I have at least twelve pounds of various newspapers, magazines, and academic articles stacked and ready to head out for recycling. The room is still quite cluttered, but at least I'm not constantly running the risk of tripping over school notes or getting papercuts from vindictive neglected homework assignments (goddamned SOAP notes were *everywhere*). I figure tomorrow I'll try to do something about all the textbooks. Maybe. If the mood strikes me.

I usually hold back on pointing out odds and ends here because I know I'm usually *years* behind any trends worth knowing, but, yo, LAUNCHcast is "da bomb" (as the kids used to say years ago...see what I mean?). In exchange for setting up a Yahoo account and most likely giving Big Brother access to your house, home, and non-vital stats (because we all know B.B. has the vital ones already), little Internet elves tailor music to your inclination. Lookie lookie:

Fredericksx's Station Featuring: Jill Scott, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, A Perfect Circle, Jamiroquai, The Chemical Brothers, Greg Laswell, Aerosmith, Massive Attack, Soundgarden, Faith Evans

Not very eclectic as I am a stick in the mud, but very nifty. More than the featured artists are played, of course: I got keyed into Syd Matters and discovered that not all of Tori Amos post "From the Choirgirl Hotel" is hokum ("Gold Dust" is beautiful, and "Scarlet's Walk" will be borrowed from the library ASAP). So, yes, join up, make a station, and share your info with the class me, please.

Re-reading through past entries is quite fun, particularly if the entry is one of those things others would classify as a retelling of daily events. It's all about the humor, sez I. I've managed to make myself laugh at and with myself by going through my tags.

Yes, c'est le fini.

I love Launchcast too! I listen to it at work sometimes. My station (according to the screen) features: Ministry, Tears for Fears, Coldplay, Tori Amos, Crowded House, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Dirty Vegas, Sisters of Mercy, Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox Twenty.

Kind of an odd mix. :p

"You know how I know you're gay? Cuz you listen to Coldplay." I'll never be able to hear anything from that band without flashing back to 40 Year Old Virgin.

You have a nice combination going on. It's a very cool laid back mix. If you had, like, Megadeth or Rammstein in there *then* I'd have an eyebrow cocked. *grin*

Ha! I forgot about that quote, funny. :p

No, I'm not into death metal by any means. :)

Launchcast is definitely da bomb. I've been using it for almost two years. I have a pathetically large amount of artists and albums rated. I rarely get a song that is a complete dud. I even pay for the freakin' thing since I listen to it at work all the time. The free account only lets you play about 200 songs a month before it reverts to a non-customized station. But, yes...it's very cool.

I've never run into that problem with the freeplay, as I only listen to it whenever I hook up my stereo to my PC and I'm usually too lazy to pull out all the wiring. I would definitely look into paying if I listened to music over my PC more.

this statement is accurate for me...well, except for the actual cleaning of the room.

*grin* I feel your pain. We should hire a cleaning service or something.
