Because it's still Friday on the West Coast...[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive

1) What TV show(s) do you find yourself watching the most? - Nowadays the only show I watch with some regularity is Battlestar Galactica. The Daily Show, Press Your Luck, The Price is Right, and repeats of Roseanne show up more frequently than any others.
2) What if any TV shows do you own on DVD? - Newsradio (Seasons 1, 2, & 3), Battlestar Galactica (Season 1), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Season 1), Samurai Champloo (Discs 1-5), The Venture Bros (Season 1), Robot Chicken (Season 1), Justice League (Season 1).
3) Can you name your favorite TV show theme song (I would encourage you to make a phone post and sing it to us)? - No singing from me. My favorite theme song is one of the title songs from Full Metal Alchemist, "Ready Steady Go". I used to play it prior to taking my computer-based exams to get psyched up.
4) Have you ever been on TV and if so for what? - No. I avoid cameras.
5) What is your favorite YouTube video (feel free to post a link)? - The only things I watch on YouTube are cartoon snippets (FMA, Justice League). I don't think those count.

Sort of a weak Five, eh?

Went into school to get some reference paperwork straightened out, and I picked up my diploma. The diploma is rather large, which doesn't make any sense to me as it's only a bachelors. I get the feeling schools compensate for insecurity with diploma size the way men are believed to compensate with cars for their penises. The Pace degree could not fit in my large messenger bag; the thing has to be at least 15" x 11". In comparison, the diploma I got from Brown was barely pushing 6" x 8"...although it made up for its size with pretension, as it was written entirely in Latin.

I'm twenty-six years old. When my mom was my age she'd already had two kids. I have a half-sister who is my age who's working and has two kids. I feel something's gone either very very wrong or somewhat right in my life to lead me where I am now. I was downstairs washing dishes and cleaning up the kitchen because, face it - I live here rent-free and I'm twenty-fuckin'-six years old, I have to pitch in as much as humanly possible - and mom was telling me to do some mundane thing that anyone with sense in their head would know to do, so I sort of rolled my eyes and went "yeeees, mom" in that way that kids do...only thing, recall, that I'm twenty-fuckin'-six years old. See, I recalled it, and it made me pretty goddamned sad. I know parents are parents and you're always a child to your parent, but there's been no distinction in my case besides my obtaining two pieces of paper that both state I'm a college graduate. I'll be a kid until I become heavy with child or move out of the house.

I don't think I can blame my mood on the TB medication anymore. At least, I don't think it's fair on the isonaizid. It's always fun to be able to pass the buck to the external, though.

Apparently there was a large quake in the vicinity of Trinidad this morning. I found out because mom called me (why?), and then found out again when dad called me twenty minutes later because mom called him (again, why?). You'd think they could have, you know, called the family on the island to make sure everyone was okay. All I could do was read aloud to them the sparse AP news articles available on the matter.

L'Arc en Ciel rules. Especially that song.

Congratulations.

And you know, you hit the nail on the head with "I'm twenty-six years old." That's exactly how I've been feeling lately.

I remember you purchased the soundtrack. I keep trying to get the local library to order it, but no luck. I'll attempt again next time I go.

Do you own an album by L'Arc?

Nah. I'd downloaded everything I could find of theirs, once upon a time. But I deleted all of it some time later.

Because it's fun to compare answers

1. The trashy: America's Next Top Model and Project Runway; The middle-brow: Veronica Mars and Lost; the others: The Daily Show, Globe Trekker, Now (a news show), and various food/cooking shows. I also used to watch 'Degrassi: the Next Generation', but it's not on basic cable.

2. 'Degrassi Junior High' and 'Veronica Mars'. Dan has like 20 shows, though.

3. No

4. I've been on TV several times for press conferences (with my previous job), in the audience for other local news-y shows, and once I was on a cable-access show about the Local School Council elections at the Chicago Public Schools. It was fun. One person called up and slipped through the phone-screener with 'I think you're hot'. I was doing the show with the host and we spent a couple of seconds saying, 'That caller was definitely talking about you. ...Thank you. Now moving on...."

5. My YouTube movie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LteNvE3iILs (It won an award, too!) Yeah, it's a little pervy, but fun, no doubt!

I think if it was land-centered there would have been more damage and more of a hubbub. As it is, I'm glad there wasn't more notice. Means things weren't too bad.

And thanks for the congrats. Creepy cat icon and all. *grin*

Bwah! Your video was hilarious! Great job.

I want to get VM on DVD. I'm getting into it, and have only caught about half of the first season.

Diploma size

"I get the feeling schools compensate for insecurity with diploma size the way men are believed to compensate with cars for their penises.": Very probably true! I went to an "average" college, and my diploma was probably about "average-sized." :)
