I want a Vinatieri jersey. Until last night I wanted a Vinatieri Patriots jersey - I was up in Providence while the Patriots were making with the Superbowls so I think I'm allowed to jump wagon for a little bit - but then, dayum, last night's Colts game? Vinatieri's the goddamned man wherever he goes. I think I might settle for a Colts jersey, because it's impossible to find a Patriots one.

I spent the weekend studying some and watching Newsradio. Perfect combo! Still waiting for that offer letter...pleaseLordletnothingbemessedupthislateinthegame.

I've been making my way through the Dresden File books in anticipation of the series premiere in January. The weird thing is I don't think I'm really really enjoying the series. I mean, I like it enough to keep reading but I figure that's mainly because it's just entertaining enough that I don't feel like pitching the books across the room when I'm done. The basic pattern of the books don't vary much: Harry's tired, something happens to Harry to threaten his life, a couple of seemingly non-related incidents are pressed upon Harry, Harry nearly gets his ass handed to him, Harry comes out alive. Should I not feel like the groove itself is a little boring? The dialogue is snappy (and damn near Sorkinesque in the latter books between Murphy and Harry), Harry is hilarious, and the array of characters are interesting. I'm in the middle of Death Masks now and hope to wrap up the series (or what's been currently completed anyway) before Monday.

Ha! Okay, that's one reason why you're awesome. But if they're asking for less than $100 I'm already suspicious. :)

Yeah, I don't blame you for being leery. That was the only Pats jersey I could find (that wasn't youth-sized), and they included a picture, so I thought I'd point it out to you anyway. :)

I always like to check the contract length that a player has before I buy his jersey....they are kind of expensive if he's only gonna play there for 2 years.

If you go to any "FootLocker"(I don't know if they exist on the east coast..."Finish Line" is the same thing thing I think) they will order any jersey for you, and they usually have a list of retro-jerseys, might be worth checking out if you really want it. That is how I got my Derrick Thomas jersey after he died.

You go as far as checking contract length? *grin* I figure I'm buying the jersey to recall a certain moment/length of time anyway, so why bother. Then again I've never bought an official jersey for myself before so what do I know?

And Footlockers do retro jerseys? Cool beans. I will definitely look into it. Thanks!

My BF likes the Dresden Files. I've bought the first one (on his rec), but haven't read it yet.

Also, I thought at first that you wanted a Vetinari jersey, and I was like, "that'd be awesome!" And it would be awesome, even if it's not what you said.

Please forgive the repetitiveness and irrelevance; I've had a long day.

*grin* I've never read Prachett's work but I did Google Vetinari. That *would* be a cool jersey. I should prolly read Discworld, huh?

Dresden is certainly worth a read. When you make your way through the series you can follow Butcher's improvement in the craft, which is pretty cool. I've heard tons of great things about the last couple of books and that's why I want to speed over to them.

And you were perfectly relevant and non-repetitive; happy happy sleep time, my friend.

IS that the series where the guy is a warlock in some city, and in one book there was Harry working with the police and he has a crappy car and there were these things after him and I think he has a cat and there's a fairy in the woods who likes pizza?

That's a lot, I know, because that's how it's in my head. Anyway, if so, I read one book a few months back and LOVED it. I didn't know there was going to be a series. I need to go to the library and start, if so.

Yep, that's the one. It gets better, both stylistically and plot-wise, as you go through the books.
