fredericks: (I Love You)

It is wonderful to come home and find holiday cheer addressed to me waiting on the living room table. I gotta put y'all on blast: thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nelliewu, [livejournal.com profile] rwarner, [livejournal.com profile] devoosha, [livejournal.com profile] pix3lated_dream, [livejournal.com profile] atraxia, and [livejournal.com profile] sternel for the lovely cards, along with [livejournal.com profile] 1x2foralways for the delightfully necessary (in my case, at least) Starbucks gift card, [livejournal.com profile] ellyssian with the beautiful poetry insert written by him and his family members, and [livejournal.com profile] captainschlumpy for the cute-as-all-hell straw-skirted flamingo (I'm going to have to raid the NY Aquarium and/or The Bronx Zoo for another animal to send your way, as we seem to have a sort of theme going on). There's no better balm for sore feet and feelings of incompetence than hearing that people care. I really am quite lucky. :)

I'm in a bit of a TV watching slump. Heroes and BSG are done until the middle/end of January, and nothing playing currently holds my interest. To be honest, I hadn't watched BSG on the regular since 3x03. I'm thinking New Caprica was just *too* dreary for me to deal with, although my love for the show remained high. I haven't watched much TV period for the last couple of months. Same thing with DVDs. I sort of forced myself to sit down and watch two of the Due South discs, and I'd like to finally get through S1 of Veronica Mars, but I can't muster the energy to be a couch potato. I suppose that's nothing to be ashamed of, but I'd feel more cool with things if I had the energy to, say, get up and hang out on the town. Instead my time seems split between work and sleep, with work insinuating itself into my dreams on a regular basis. Blah blah, I'm not complaining just making a note for posterity. Or something.

Since I have the time (or intend to make the time) - any book/movie/TV recs? I managed to track down -U2xU2- (finally!) and a 21-day loan copy of Gaiman's -Fragile Things-, and am still making my way through Newman's -The Bloody Red Baron-. I'm always on the lookout for the goodies, though.

ETA - Memeage! I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] pix3lated_dream
Here's the scoop: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether or not they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to. Note - my list is heavily influenced by the Guitar Hero II setlist. And I'm disabling my tagging option tonight. If you want to share you can take the meme up or just post as a comment.

1. "Them Bones" - Alice in Chains
2. "Hangar 18" - Megadeth
3. "Kill The King" - Megadeth
4. "Beast and the Harlot" - Avenged Sevenfold
5. "My Love" - Justin Timberlake
6. "Dust in the Wind" - Kansas
7. "Helena" - My Chemical Romance

I have Showtime (the US station running Dexter) and I keep telling myself I'm going to get around to watching it, but then I have to wait until the first episode airs (because I can't start a show from the middle of the run) and then I'm feeling pooped and I don't get around to checking it out and blah blah blah. They'll most likely run a marathon some time soon. What's so interesting about the show, if you don't mind me asking? Besides the dude from Six Feet Under, of course.
