The proper response to everything being "that's why I've got it wrapped in this special CIA napkin". It never gets old.

Came in a little while ago from watching "Dreamgirls". Not my first choice, but the aunt-unit was looking a tad lonely and I figured some time with her wouldn't kill me. I spent a good bit of time rolling my eyes over the cheese, but *goddamn* can the girl from American Idol sing or what? I was waiting for "I'm Not Going" and I was not disappointed at all. I teared up a bit, not going to front. Other than that Beyonce still can't act, Jamie Foxx's singing was surprisingly crappy, and every time Eddie Murphy opened his mouth I pictured Donkey (from Shrek) and laughed. It's one of those movies that are (IMO) best watched on DVD so you can fast-forward past the corniness. Leaving the movies I felt like checking out a romance so I went into Blockbuster and picked up the A&E/BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Colin Firth! *swoon*

Christmas was neat. I worked the Eve and then headed out to St. Barts for the Episcopalian version of Midnight Mass (at 11PM), walking through Rockefeller Center on my way to check out the Tree (anti-climatic), the windows at Saks (more of the same), and the crowd and police presence outside St. Pats waiting for the RC Mass at Midnight (lines to get in like whoa). Came back in around 2AM and promptly threw my exhausted ass into bed. My haul this year wasn't so much with the variety, but still I have no complaints: two Visa gift cards combined totalling $175, a $20 Starbucks gift card, a variety of lotions (with all the handwashing I do on a daily basis that one was very much appreciated), $100 in cash, and some shirts that I'll most likely never wear (horizontal stripes need only be worn by women smaller than a size 6). The great part about this Christmas was being able to buy presents for all of my immediate family members and a few of my extended ones. Getting anything at all was a bonus.

The year is drawing to a close and I have so much to be grateful for that I sometimes find myself smiling for no reason at all. I wish I could bottle this feeling to save it for a rainy day...although I *love* rainy days, so ha.

Now I'm off to Austen-world.

huzzah for the episcopalians. i think our pastor was a little tipsy, since he kept slipping into his canadian accent. ("we like our church, eh?")

also, please note that the card made me crack up laughing. i don't do that nearly enough. :)

I'm digging the Episcopalians, sho nuff. I haven't attended services as regularly as I did last year but the similarities to the RC service as well as the welcoming air are great combinations in my book.

And I'm glad you liked the card. I do trust you haven't receive one like it...? Cuz that'd so not be fun. :)

That feeling is something I'm so happy for you for. Seein' what you've had to put up with in the short time I've known you, I'm so glad you can end this year on a smile, a grin, and maybe a song? (go on, end it with a song....you know you want to)

a 1, a 2, a 1..2..3..4...*dance!*

Aww, thanks man, really. Your kind words mean a helluva lot to me. :)

Now, per your request, excuse me whilst I headbang to Megadeth. It's sorta dancing, I guess.

That version of Pride & Prejudice is just about the best thing ever. I'm going to force my room mates to watch it next semester...time for some payback for the overdose of Gilmore Girls.

The woman who plays Jane Bennet looks like the lovechild of Tilda Swinton and Jeffrey Jones (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000470/). Sorry; that just struck me a couple of minutes ago.

I love the way I gleam more and more every time I watch the mini-series. Such a well-shot piece of work. Though I'd forgotten it was so long.

The recent one had *excellent* cinematography, though. And I admired the emphasis on the physical unspoken dialogue between Darcy and Elizabeth (even though it became quite heavy-handed at times). Not so much a fan of the dewy morn-backdropped admission of love, nor the blatant sexual innuendo in the way the last scene between Elizabeth and Darcy was shot. Other than that it was like the "Pride and Prejudice for Dummies" version in comparison, I agree. It's for when you don't have 4 hours to spare. And you're foolish enough to forego the Firth. Fiiiiiiiiiiirth! :)

Jennifer Hudson rocks like woah. I've heard only good things about her! But Beyonce, on the other hand...I've heard she, well, kind of ruins the movie.

Donkey! Heeee!!!!

Glad your Christmas was nice! I was going to give you a buzz but wasn't sure if you were working, and I didn't want to disturb you. So here's some (kind-of) belated Christmas wishes and hugs! *hugs*

Greatly looking forward to the 12th!

Oh, and one more thing...due to my lack of energy/lack of anything to really update about, I've decided to close my journal. I'll be checking in on the FL, of course, but other than that, I won't be around LJ-Land as much. But you know the email and number, so it's all good. (:

Jennifer Hudson, THAT'S her name. She was amazing. Better actor and MUCH better singer than Beyonce. Very pretty young woman besides. Beyonce is not an actor. She couldn't make it in Goldmember and her acting hasn't improved in the last couple of years.

I was working the Eve but I've been off the last couple of days. I'm a bit sad about having to go back in tomorrow and Friday, but hopefully things will be okay. My preceptor has the day off so I hope the nurse I'm stuck with is cool. ::fingers crossed::

When you say you've closed your journal you're just not posting to it, right? That's cool beans. Sometimes you just don't have anything much to say. I'll be bugging you, though. Can't wait 'til we meet up. :)

Thank you for the heads up about Dream Girls. I mean... that's pretty much what I expected to hear, but I'm sure I'll still see it anyhow. Just cause... singing is cool.

But yes, thanks!

No problem. Civic duty and all. There's a lot of singing in the movie. I sort of wish there was more, you know, *plot* - things moved fast and the singing got a bit over-the-top, but Jennifer Hudson sure can belt it out.

I love that girl from American Idol! I think I half way watched that season, and she was my favorite. I was sad when she was eliminated, and I stopped watching. Oh, and Colin Firth. ::swoon:: His eyes in that movie were... woo, boy... I'd probably melt into a puddle if he looked at me that way.

I never really watched American Idol, but my folks do and I remember the big to-do about Ms. Hudson getting kicked off. She's beautiful and has such a powerful voice. She reminds me of Kelley Price in that she's a larger woman with a refreshing set of pipes in a time where thin and cookie-cutter is what's in.

And, yes! Colin! I love his smile. Awwwwwwww. *grin*

i keep meaning to watch the BBC version of Pride & Prejudice because i always hear great things about it...and Colin ;)

*grin* Now I'm laughing a bit about that. Donkey was hilarious. Nicely over-the-top. Shrek 2 came on ABC the other day. I'd forgotten how funny it was.
