There's a [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive, but I'm way too lazy to do the copy/paste/bold/link thing. Suffice to say I had pet, a dog I named Krishna, she was finicky and wiley and I miss her a helluva lot.

Went in to Employee Health. I still have the rash on my face but it's going down a bit. Most of my labs came back normal - no strep throat, no signs of infection - but my potassium was on the low side (that might explain some of the late-night twitches). However, as I managed to eat *ahem* almost a half-bag...and I'm not talking one of those mini snack bags but like one of those huge-ass party bags of potato chips between the day the blood was drawn and today I think I'll be good.

Yes, yes, I *know*! But they were salt and vinegar. Between those and Costco's red pepper hummus, I swear by all I hold holy...

The PA at Employee Health was reluctant to straight-out give me permission to go back to work but I pow-wowed with my manager and she gave me the thumbs-up. She also arranged for me to start nights next week Wednesday. She gave me off this Sunday so I'd have three full days to attempt to adjust. I'm sure my preceptor will be *thrilled* to get me out of her hair. I'm looking forward to moving away from the chaos of days. It takes me a little longer to pick up on the occasion, and the frenetic pace of days gave me no time to think. Hells, most days I never had time for *lunch*, which is plenty scary seeing as my blood glucose was below normal on my lab work. I'd been wondering why I'd been making lots of idiotic mistakes during my shift - problem solved.

Don't ask me how I know; I just *do*.

How can basic cable stations carry shows like The Sopranos and The Wire and keep the essence of the programs? I've only just started watching The Wire, but just about every other word is a curse. Not to mention the memorable crime scene investigation bit where the only dialogue was vocal variations of "fuck". It was sort of like those Muppet space characters...I forget their names, but they went "meepmeepMEEP" or something along those lines. And let's not get started on the T&A in Sopranos. Sanitizing the shows to try to reach out to a wider audience won't do much IMO. But that's a debate for someone who's more lucid than I am at the moment.

I hate the bleeps, my god how I hate the bleeps.

The absolute worst is when they put them in music. *roll eyes*

True. I much prefer subtly changing lyrics if changing them to cover over profanity. Bleeps can be amusing if played for laughs (see: Arrested Development) but in TV shows they are very distracting. Not as distracting as poorly dubbed dialogue, of course, but distracting.

I never really understood the TV thing either. I've watched both versions of the sopranos and the edited version is very WTF inducing. It reminds me a little of playing edited songs on the radio, pointless and annoying. It might be kind of funny if they dubbed the curse words with Meep though! Come to think of it, from now on when I feel the need to curse, I'll use meep instead. Thus producing my very own WTF moments! I encourage you to do this also. :)

Meep you, man!

Yeah, that does feel good. :)
Sopranos would be minutes and minutes of poorly dubbed incongruous language. Why! Dear Lord, why??

Not Beaker, the fuzzy orange and yellow things that went like "meeeeep-meep-meep-meep"...something like that. Dammit and damn my brain.

Those two are such an odd couple. Rowlings was reaching with that duo, I tell you what.

That's the weird thing, Tonks is too old for Harry, but she's WAY too young for the other adult characters, like in another generation.
