Makes me frown:
1. Realizing the interest on my student loan totals 110% of the amount originally withdrawn.

2. Underestimating the energy required for home makeover projects.

3. Dwindling bank account balances.

4. Inane news reporter chatter.

5. Trying to coordinate bookclub meetings. It's like wrangling lightning.

Makes me smile:
1. Planning excursions.

2. Hot Fuzz. Seriously, I nearly peed down my pants watching it this evening. I hold my water for 12 hours at a time so, no, I don't have an incontinence problem and, yes, it is that funny.

3. Rainy days while inside.

4. Long plotty fics. God bless good writers everywhere.

5. Going to bookclub meetings. The lightning, once coordinated, is teh awesome.

I'm nowhere near finished on my room: I've cleared off the bookshelf (eight frickin' boxes right there) and sort of made headway with the clutter on the floor, but that's about it. The primer and spackle/putty are purchased, sitting on my floor, and waiting to be unleashed. I just have to find the energy. And move out the rest of my shit. Maybe I'll see if I can recruit Jo to lend me a hand next Wednesday.

I rarely think of having children until I'm forced to purchase clothing for them. I spent time in Disney Kids and A Children's Place this afternoon for an upcoming baby party and, dammit, it's got me pondering stuff I usually push to the wayside. I'm worried part of the appeal is dressing a squirming thing up in a coordinated jumper and I'm forgetting all the poop and upchuck and wailing. Perhaps I just want a Cabbage Patch?

The heat's kicked back up and I find myself craving a good beer around 1PM or so (you know, when you're sitting in your non-air conditioned palace with sweat slowly making its way down your cleavage or whatnot). My usual poison is a Sam Adams Lager, but there was a Guinness sitting in the fridge the other day so I put it to good use. Usually I savor my beer, but the Guinness bottle was empty within five minutes. From the experience I've decided that a)Guinness is amazingly smooth but b)it's got the bitterest aftertaste of any beer I've yet to try. I didn't rush it down because of a but because of b; I kept trying to get the damn bitter taste off my palate by reliving the initial richness. The sane thing would have been to follow it up with some milk (Guinness shake, anyone?), but oh well. Thank God there was only one available.

Now that I have money I find myself wanting to go on the excursions previously denied to me. I promised this one I'd go visit her in Grenada, and then I agreed to go with that one on a trip to England. Thing is..."makes me frown #3". The England trip looks pricey (2 to 1? goddamn it), while Grenada would more or less just be airfare. And beaches. And hanging out doing absolutely nothing. And, you know, beaches. I should just say no to both and do something about the computer that's about to die on me. Or just say no and save my bloody money on everything.

My mother's crazy and my father's annoying and drain bamaged and I don't belong here. God, Devendra's making me all angsty at 1:30 in the morning.

Re: bookclub meetings

Maybe we should have a set night... ie, third Monday of every other month... that way people will know all the time and just won't plan stuff for that night... and if they do, they miss?

Student loans, in general, make me frown and incite some slight depression. I calculated when I would have mine paid off if I continue paying what I have been each month. This was a mistake. 2016? Almost *ten* years. Crap.

As for the children... A co-worker had a sick child last weekend. He's three and requires someone to wipe for him after he goes potty. Unfortunately, he had the diarrhea and shot it out at her at the wrong moment. o_O She said she cried afterward. I'd probably cry too.

Sounds like a plan. We'll pick the day next we meet up.

I got the bear, btw. The glossy pic is amazing. You have to tell me when next you're going to auction because I'm going to be on it like white on something white.

The loan I'm having the most problems with is Sallie Mae. I've been paying double+ the amount due and they're STILL telling me my total expected interest hasn't changed one iota. Never again with the private loans. If I can't pay out of pocket I can't get the education, simple as that.

*grin* Children are bundles of explosive joy, aren't they? Poor lady.

The only one I've managed to get a hand on is Cripple Crow. I like his style, but I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy his music. This mood also encompasses Jeff Buckley and Velvet Underground.
