I had my first Wii casualty this morning. RIP, crystal flower vase. I shouldn't have gone so hard on that backhand.
I thought Season 1 of Avatar was fun, quirky, and mildly entertaining. Season 2, though? Okay, I almost teared up during "Appa's Lost Days". And I was on the *bus*. This show is no joke. Gah! It brings the funny and the pathos hard. I alternate between going "goddammit, Zuko!" and "aww; poor thing just needs a hug".
ETA - I read a NYTimes article about Avatar, and how Nickelodeon only plans to make three seasons/60 episodes (the number the network uses to decide syndication). The article was from 2005, when the show first came out, but I'm thinking it probably still holds. Season Two's ending was sort of Empire Strikes Back-like, right? What with the bad guys seemingly pulling off a crushing defeat and the good guys running off to fight another day. It was also ESB-like with it being the best of the lot (from what I can see in S3 so far, of course). And what happens now? What master will teach Aang Fire bending? I was hoping Zuko would stop being a confused little boy for one second and lend a hand, but my second guess is Iroh. Dude's brawlic, clever, and you just *know* that lightning-deflecting move will end up saving Aang's life in the future (no more gaping chest wounds while in the Avatar state for our boy!).
Overtime was offered for tomorrow night. With the dwindling amount in my bank account I had to weigh party versus monies. It was tough, but monies won out. Sorry. :( I'll drink something for you tonight and pretend I'm there while I'm slaving away tomorrow.
I actually got a good amount of sleep under my belt this afternoon: eight hours. This is a record, I think.
