After a week from hell, a weekend of win:
*Chocolate peanut butter ice cream in a waffle cone.
*Costume shopping (dressing up as a Viper pilot for Halloween: y/n? I'm just imagining visiting patients and ending every visit with "so say we all").
*Checking out Hell Kitchen's (nee Chelsea's) Flea Market.
*How I Met Your Mother, "The Best Burger in New York". Marshall's homage to one of Salieri's dissection of Mozart's work in Amadeus strengthened my love to the nth degree. O.M.G.
*Supernatural, "In the Beginning". This show simply loves to foster inappropriate slashiness in my head, doesn't it (and you shush over there! there totally is appropriate slash out there! don't judge me!)?
*Powers Books 10 and 11 by Brian Michael Bendis. I'm sorely tempted to subscribe to the monthly. It'll be the first monthly comic I've gotten in more than a decade. But, seriously? So worth it.

I went up to my old college last weekend, and while I got to see a lot of my old sites and eat at a couple of digs (couldn't believe the Spike's Junkyard Dog on campus was closing that Sunday) the weekend overall was a washout. I hummed "I Wish I Could Go Back To College" a lot, but I'd forgotten how much college kids irk the shit out of me.

Still have the last bit of DCon stuff to write up, and the first couple of paragraphs are sitting on my computer as a Word file mocking me. I made a res for the Marriott next year, and the buzz from [livejournal.com profile] dragoncon is that rooms are selling out like whoa. I find it hard to believe, but whatever. I'm set and ready to get my nerd on.

Tomorrow I have a shortened day, because I'm supposed to sit in for CPR recertification. No complaints on my end.

They're sold out in the Mariott, and are going fast at the Hyatt, apparently. My friends are all trying to grab rooms right now.

I think the scuttlebutt was they're opening rooms up in blocks? which may mean there are more Marriott rooms that'll be available down the line. But the Marriott may be a big(ger) hassle this year with all the events going on within.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Then I hope you get an excellent room :)

Slash is always appropriate! Okay not always but much of the time and anyone who says otherwise is clearly lying and/or misinformed. Too true about the SPN episode though.

Total flirting going on in that dinner, dude. I'm glad it wasn't just me who picked up on it. :)

Sounds like a good weekend! And I say go for it on the costume. I'm trying to come up with something suitably nerdy to wear for Hallowe'en but so far I'm lacking inspiration.

It's been that long since you've followed a monthly? I think it's been somewhere around 3-4 years for me. TPB are just so convenient, but I do miss the excitement of getting a new issue every month.

I want to go as something/someone that I don't end up using a store bought costume for, but I'm quite lazy and not good with the forethought. Meh; maybe I'll just wear a goofy hat.

The last monthly I got in the mail? X-Men Classics, the reissues of the old school X-Men. The other ones I followed semi-regularly (Uncanny, X-Men, X-Man, the occasional series titles) I'd pick up from these dudes who set up shop right outside the subway station on the way to high school. Those dudes were awesome. But serials aren't the way they used to be. There isn't an issue's worth of suspense, but actual arcs that try my patience (in a good way, though). It's part of the reason why I fell back onto trades.

I miss going to comic shops regularly because I miss talking to some of the peeps who tend to work in those places. It gave me some people to talk about the last issue of Promethea or whatever else I was into at the time.

Nowadays, I just bore people with my comic book thoughts online. :P

Yay! You two know each other! I are LJ matchmaker?

In other news: I was gonna come down to DCon next year, but I can't commit to a room 11 months in advance :-(

UR indeed.
I moseyed over to her journal and was all "well, [livejournal.com profile] emily_goddess says you are the shiznit, so wazzup?", and she was all like "yay! BFF!" Sort of. So, yeah. :)

And don't say no to DCon just yet. I figure the hotel craziness will work itself out as we get closer to the date. And you can always bunk with someone.

Is Promethea still going on? It got really acid-y around the 4th trade and I had to move on.

Nope. It ended years ago with issue 32. It was one of my goals to re-read the entire series this summer, but that didn't happen. Lol!

Yeah, it was really trippy and there was so much going on in every issue. I don't know what Sir Moore was into.

It must've been coconut milk. ;)
