Today's been surprisingly tolerable, all things considered. I recorded a weight gain this week at WW for the first time since I started the program, but I think I've been pretty pragmatic and realistic about it (cheese platters during the holiday weekend! but I have lost a crapload of weight overall) and *did* go to the meeting this evening (yay, Team Me!) I also managed to locate the music library I thought I'd accidently deleted while putting around with my HD, and now I can jam to all the songs I'd been missing. Work was pretty quiet on the whole, even with half the team out (three-quarters of the team is off tomorrow; I'm trying to block out the potential shitstorm that'll be Thursday as I type this up). Also, I've determined that use of a heating blanket works *wonders* when it comes to relieving menstrual cramps (smoothest start of a period I can recall, I tell you what).

My New Years Goals are pretty straightforward:
1. Learn to drive (the motivation to actually carry a license in a city with an extensive public transportation system? v. v. low)
2. Apply to Grad Schools
3. Get down to a BMI below 25.
4. Write daily.
5. Plan an "event" for once a week (as trying to socialize more never seems to work).

If I've been spazzy lately it's because work is bonkers. And I'm scheduled to work New Years Day and this weekend. BUT once I get past this weekend vacation starts next Thursday. Light at the end of the tunnel.

Best wishes for everyone in the upcoming year.

See, now I don't feel so bad that I don't feel the urge to get my license. It's definitely helpful, but unlike my brothers I wasn't influenced by auto-industry funded movies and TV shows and inflicted with the "imperative" to get my wheels.

It helps that we live in places with good public transit systems. We haven't needed to drive. On the other hand, if an emergency cropped up and I needed to get somewhere outside Boston in a hurry, I'd be SOL. It'd be nice if I had the ability and the right to drive, even if I didn't need it most of the time.

Want to agree to bother each other about it? Might help us both get motivated.

exactly - I have to go up to Connecticut next weekend and I'm forced to either bum a ride off a friend or beg one of my bros to take me. Not cool. Not like having a license necessarily means that I'll be able to get or afford a car (with insurance and car note payments and all), but my dad keeps talking about getting my license and "sitting on it" so my insurance payments go down. Makes sense.

And we should nag each other about it. At least until one or both of us get it done. :)
