GAH! Don't do that again! *weeps*

Yes, so with the chance of the DDoS attack hitting again, I figure I might as well get my posting ya-yas out.

No LJ since MONDAY! *sobs*

I read the new Dresden File book, Ghost Story. And...hmm. I think I know why Jim Butcher ended up pushing back the release date by a few months. And if that is the result of an extra three months of tweaking and editing I'm morbidly curious as to what it initially looked like. I thought Ghost Story to be a very disjointed book, and while I ended up finishing it because I was (and to some extent still am) invested in the world of Harry Dresden and Co., I turned through the last hundred pages or so looking for the ending. I feel like Butcher painted himself into a corner with the ending of the last book. I'm refraining from saying more to avoid spoilers, but I'm curious as to what other folks might have thought.

The fact that it's been two days since release and I'm not even halfway through says volumes of what I think. *sigh*

Ha. I chalk my fast completion to my propensity to pull the Band-Aid off as fast as possible.

Even with my B & N discount I ponied up a good chunk of change for that book. And I sort of regret it. The tight almost rote (yet comfortably familiar) Butcher writing was nowhere to be found. Not cool.

He took a gamble and it doesn't seem to be panning out. I'll be able to judge more when I finish it, but usually I devour his books on release and have them read in less than 24 hours. This time I just haven't hit that 'omg can't put it down' stage at all. It's okay, but there's nothing much beyond that yet. Sounds like there won't be, so I guess we hope for the next book!
