Whoo boy, slow down there!

DAMN, what a fuckin' fucked up day I've had so far. I'm still reeling from it all. And not necessarily fucked up in a bad way, but fucked up in a "socked in the jaw and sprawled out on the ground" sort of way.
Okay, okay, FIRST I find out that Tevin Campbell is gay. I swear to God, I had no idea. And I'm not in shock so much over the fact that he likes cock as much as I am amazed I hadn't heard any of this before. And my 21st century PC sensibilities are shocked that the reason he isn't making records right now is because of his sexual orientation (or maybe he made a record after he was outed/outed himself and no one bought it...hmm...).I guess it's because around the time all of that came to light I was listening to tons more rock and classical than R&B. Wasn't really into the scene, as it were. His voice is so good, man! He really should make a comeback. I'm d/ling some of his music as I type this. Good times, man.
I'm at work when I find this out and my day isn't going so great. All day I've been fighting those pre-flu symptoms: achy joints, semi-sore throat and somewhat burn-y eyes. I felt like I wanted to sit down and take a long-ass nap. I felt like I wanted to sit down and take a long-ass nap. But we have to clean up the store or whatever for the regional check-up (gotta keep the store 401K Ready, or something to that effect) so I was forcing myself up and down and around like the lil' trooper that I am. One of my co-workers, meanwhile, was busy in the back downing Smirnoff Ice like a lush, mainly because the manager was on vacation. He's typically a nice guy, weed and smoking habit aside. Long story short, he was asked to do a task that another co-worker was supposed to do and then...the drama struck.
Inebriated people at the workplace are bad. Inebriated people that should have done but was lazy and didn't, and he refused. The temp. manager messed with his code so he couldn't ring up customers, then he (Smirnoff Boy) went back and cursed a blue streak, startling the customers and myself. Even thought I really like him, if he doesn't get fired I'm going to be very pissed. A worker that the majority of my co-workers disliked was fired for basically the same thing (the DM said he was fired for "insubordination", but he was basically fired because he was a pompous ass on the occasion).
On top of that, two departures. One I knew was coming, one that took me by surprise. Another co-worker that most of the other workers disliked worked his last day at the store. He got transferred to another store, or demoted (the other store has a lower volume). I really liked him as well, although on the occasion his methodical nature could be irksome. Irksome, but understandable and forgivable. I really need to contact the DM office and get his new number so I can keep in touch with him. It's telling that of all the temporary workers that were brought in during the season (there were 4 of us) I'm the only one that's left at the store; all the rest have been transferred or fired.
So the other one...my manager is gone. Transferred to Brooklyn. It's supposed to be a promotion for him, but I think he just got yanked along to Brooklyn by the former DM (who just got demoted to there) because he was his "golden boy". I might have bitched about my manager quite a bit, but he made coming to work fun. It was nice to be able to kid around on the job and have a boss around my own age. It was a shock because I had no blinkin' idea, and he's leaving so soon. Sunday (Inventory Day) is his last day with us. I wonder if I had a crush on him? I can't believe his departure is this hard on me. Nah, I think I just thought he was a nice guy. The new boss was described to us as "professional", which leads me to believe she might make things hard on us. Oy. Hopefully I can find something new before I get fired.
Lastly, the new DM made an appearance at the store. Only thing I didn't know he was the new DM. He was wearing a Verizon jacket; I thought he was the bloomin' Verizon rep! The first thing out of his mouth was "The store is a little over-staffed, isn't it?" I'm a disciple of Stanley Bing, so I know what that means: "Some of y'all are getting fired once I get in office officially". I think H. was allowed free rein under the last DM *because* he was his poster child. So, if Mr. Bing has taught me anything it's that we're very likely to get fucked over by the new DM as he tries to erase the memory of the last DM and impress his bosses.
I'm still sick. I'm going to miss my cousin's birthday party tomorrow because I have to work. I plan to miss my other cousin's party because I have inventory on Sunday. And mom and I have about 20 pounds of potatoes to peel.
But it's alright because I have Tevin serenading me. Whee!
