As a birthday present to myself recently I purchased Dance Dance Revolution 2 (DDRMax2, as the kids call it) for the Playstation 2 (my utter devotion to this game will be chronicled fully in an upcoming entry). A few years ago I was involved in an accident that, among other things, royally fucked up my right leg. But, as those things go, it's usually the good leg that pays the price, because it has to compensate for all the hobbling, limping, and general gimp-age that happens during the recovery time. So I've been dance dance dancing to an extraordinary amount as of late, and I've been tearing up my left knee, it seems. I can't help it: the game is so much fun, but at nights I find myself rubbing Icy Hot onto my knee, cursing Konami to the high heavens.

I don't think it's that bad. Nothing more than a strain. Although it brings an ironic smile on, to think that I have more talent than Britney Spears but I may be subject to the same injury.

Yeah, me too.

My knees love to crunch. Any movement in the vertical axis and my knees protest with loud crunching. It horrifies people who've never heard it.

And occassionally, they just refuse to move up.

But they're my knees and I'm keeping them. Besides, I find that proper weight training helps keep everything working. More or less.

If it's any consolation, that's the cutest picture EVER.

I had lots of knee problems when I started out DDR, before I lost the extra pounds that brought me over the knee's physical limits. One piece of advice: Medical elastic bandages, the kind the people in ballet use, help a lot, both in lightening the pain and preventing further damage.
