I'm at work, checking my cell phone bill, because we sell the stuff - that's what I do, easy access and all to my account. I know I haven't paid my balance in about a month and change, so I'm thinking the damage to be somewhere around $80. I changed my plan lately, so the whole thing was going to be pro-rated. Right, so I key in my information on the POS and up pops my account. I scan down, look at my equipment registry, so far so good. I scroll to the right of the screen and at first only see the amount due, which was zero dollars and zero cents. I'm puzzled, but psyched; mayhaps there was glitch that cleared up my account. THEN (oh ho ho fuckin' THEN) I look over at the past due balance spot, directly above the "amount due" area. You ready for this? You sitting down? Let me put it in large and bold font, because I'm still getting a kick out of it and I read it in normal 12-point Arial.

$1577.23

Yes. That's right. One thousand five fuckin' hundred seventy-seven dollars and twenty-three cents. My eyes near popped out of my head in astonishment. I have sense, I knew that shit couldn't be right. I called the sales support guy over while waiting on the phone for Verizon's customer service (I wasted absolutely no time with that one), silently pointed out the number, and he nearly busted a gut. Got a nice rep on the phone who noticed that I was getting charged for night and weekend minutes when I shouldn't be, and said he'd take care of the matter. I'm skeptical, so I called back about an hour later, after checking on the POS and seeing no change in my balance. I was again assured that they were working on my account and they'd call me when everything was taken care of. All I know is? I'm not paying more than the $80 or so dollars I originally planned to give those people.

Work, otherwise, was pretty not so painful. I'm pissed that I left my new Alan Moore find, Top 10, in the store when locking up, especially when I was getting into it. Getting into it so much that I'm thinking of heading over there tomorrow to retrieve it, even though I'm not scheduled to work until Sunday.

I would have too.

But why waste the energy if it's a computer error that can be fixed?

Now, if they'd refused to look into the matter, that would have been a whole 'nother story...
