devoosha because, like her, I find myself slightly procrastinating bored, and figure, "What the hey?"
The 'problem' with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other.[I have problems with this statement. Online connections foster a type of closeness, yes, but who really is delusional enough to think that they know EVERYTHING about someone who they interact with over a journal anyway? Moving on...]
I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.
Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Date: 2004-11-28 01:34 pm (UTC)I'm a college grad back at it for another go. I went to Brown University from 1998-2003 (ended up taking a year off due to an accident I was involved in) and left with a nice little B.S. in Psychology. It's right up there with a B.S. in Philosophy in immediate usefulness - you can't get a damned job in your field with anything less than a Masters. Of course, when I went into school I really wasn't thinking that far ahead. All I knew was that I'd gotten into this prestigious school and I wanted to do what I enjoyed now. End stop. There really wasn't anyone to sit me down and patiently say "well, yes dear, but what are you going to do next?" (I say patiently because my mom would ask me what "the hell [I wanted] to do with [my] life?!?!" a lot during the last year or so of school, and that just led to blank looks and anger between us...which has only slowly begun to disappate).
So, fine, I finish my undergrad...and I have no plans for grad school. My grades are middling due to a rather poor first two years at the school (they picked up after the accident - I figure I had time to step back and think a bit, which made me realize how badly I'd slipped) and I haven't looked into continuing ed OR finding a good job. My folks are, understandably, pissed. Blah blah blah, I decided to go back to school to get a nursing degree. It's a needy field right now, and I figure it's something that I can tackle without freaking out too much. But ::shrug::. I'm looking at schools in the area and in Philly right now, any program that will compensate/reimburse me for working for their affliated hospital right after I graduate.
Yup. I
babbledshared a lot. Sorry 'bout that.no subject
Date: 2004-11-28 04:49 pm (UTC)I know it's easy for me to say "Don't worry about what you want to do in the future"...but I'll tell you...right now after being in my field for over ten years, I'm ready for something different. You just don't know what's ahead in the future...just do what makes you happy and productive. (I tack productive on there because I'd be happy sitting on the couch eating ice cream all day, but that won't get me anywhere!!) :)

Date: 2004-12-02 09:56 pm (UTC)I'm also afraid of spiders and heights. And heaven forbid I see a spider *while* I'm close to a ledge, because it's over for me.
