In lieu of making my brain actually work
Jul. 17th, 2005 01:05 amI cooked and prepped catering trays almost all day, taking periodic breaks to bother people on LJ and burn myself on hot oven racks while thinking about things I mentioned in the below entry. It was enjoyable. Reminded me of working for UFS. I got to roam around the kitchen singing along with my own music and doll things up. I think, if things worked out differently, I would go into some sort of culinary endeavor. Mom paid me for the work I did (I think it was the money she was given by the young lady whose function it was). I felt a little guilty about it. I need to learn how to accept funds and say "thank you" gracefully when they're given.
Watched Justice League Unlimited tonight. It was the penultimate episode, "Divided We Fall". Flash officially ROCKS (well, more). Is it wrong that whenever I see Michael Rosenbaum in anything I sing the chorus of the Flash Gordon theme, just because? "Flash! Ah-hhhhhhhh!" Dude's awesome.
I haven't touched HP. No, I touched it. Haven't gotten around to reading anything of it. I think I might want to give Latter Days a go, just to relive pleasant memories.
I wish my computer would start working again. I don't know how much longer my father will tolerate me monopolizing his.

Date: 2005-07-17 05:26 pm (UTC)You know I've never been a big Flash fan. Always came off to me as a minor character, but last night really changed my opinion. He was great. And I never knew he was voiced by Michael Rosenbaum although I hear it now.
Which reminds me. I really need to get back into Smallville. When Lost came on I stopped watching it, didn't really like how this last season was going.
So I know everyone has their favorite heroes, but does anyone have a favorite villain. Lex is great, especially when played by Rosenbaum, but the Joker, the animated version mind you, has always fascinated me and terrified me at the same time.
Oh, have you ever read "No Man's Land" by Greg Rucka? It's set in Gotham but deals mostly with Oracle, Nightwing and the Huntress. I think there are GN's under the same name but this is a novel. It's a great book and I've never read the Joker more expertly portrayed. He's absolutly evil.

Date: 2005-07-17 06:26 pm (UTC)*grin* See, I liked Flash. He's been made minor thanks to the addition of all the other DC supers, but back when it was just Justice League he was great for the comic relief. And I have a soft spot for the funny guys. Even though I want Flash to stick around for a long long time, I still think they should have had him "die" after taking on Luthiac (or whatever the hell the combination should be called). It was poignant and a hero's send-off. When J'onn said "I can telepathically sense Wally!" we all looked at one another and laughed our asses off. The delivery was borderline hokey, and, really, it wasn't needed. Flash didn't WANT to come back. It brought back memories of Buffy (don't know if you watched that or not), when her friends brought her back from the dead. She was damned pissed at them from essentially taking her out of the bliss of Heaven. But I can't see the writers bringing that up in the JLA episodes coming up.
I've always wanted to watch Lost. My problem is that I missed the first couple of episodes and I really hate jumping into the middle of shows. I was hoping they're bring it to DVD before they started s2 so I could rent it and catch up, but I guess not.
I stopped watching Smallville once it became apparent that the smoldering attraction between Lex and Clark wasn't going to be delved into. That and Kristen Kruek irks me in ways that should really be illegal. I'm guessing I haven't missed that much.
Oh, have you ever read "No Man's Land" by Greg Rucka?
No, I haven't. Isn't Oracle Batgirl after the Joker crippled her? And is the Huntress involved spawn of Oracle and Batman? I'm going to have to check it out regardless. Sounds very intriguing.
Joker actually never really scared me UNTIL I started reading GNs and saw how damned twisted he could be. Even now, years of watching a giggling clown on television has more or less made me immune to what he's supposed to have become post Dark Knight.

Date: 2005-07-17 08:04 pm (UTC)Oh, and yes, I also love all things Joss Whedon related. Kinda big Buffy fan and a huge Firefly and Angel fan. Really looking forward to the movie and the episodes reairing on Sci Fi channel.
Yeah, Oracle is Batgirl but I thought Huntress was the spawn of Batman and Ra's Al Ghul's daughter. I might be wrong, gonna probably have to look it up now to satisfy my curiosity.
Joker started scaring me after I read No Man's Land cause it too shows how evil he is. After that I started paying more attention to him in the animated series and now that laugh sends shivers up my spine.
Oh, and Kristen Kruek is incredibly annoying.
