"Exhausted" is not even the WORD
Sep. 10th, 2007 11:23 amMiserable miserable miserable night. The day nurse gave me a crashing patient (transferred to MICU after a shitload of scrambling on the part of the Medicine NP and myself) and a patient who was supposed to be transferred to telemetry since 1PM. And then she's going to rush me while I'm getting report from another nurse (we were short-staffed and on fours again) because she was "tired; I've been pulling this patient up in bed all day". Well, you know what? Fuck you very much as well. Spend less time pulling patients up in bed and more time MONITORING VITAL SIGNS AND GETTING HEMODYNAMICALLY UNSTABLE PATIENTS OFF THE FLOOR YOU GODDAMN IDIOT. This is the second third bloody time - ha!, I forgot about what happened Saturday night, when I ended up sending one of the patients I got from her to telemetry - I've taken a patient off of her hands and have had to send the patient to an intensive care unit. I told everything of what went down to our floor's manager this morning, because the night manager came by frantic last night and then told me she'd have to include me in the incident report. My manager said there was no way in hell I'd be included on any such report...but I guess we'll see.
The best balm for a shitty night? A simple "you did a good job" from your higher up. That was awesome.
Oh, and I ran into another doctor who was in my class at Science. He's a baby doctor doing his first internship in the hospital. I should get his name, as this one seems a lot friendlier than the last one.
AND I'm sort of crushing on the Stat Nurse because he reminds me of Rodney McKay and he has a small gold hoop in one ear. Does that mean he's gay? Please tell me that doesn't mean he's gay.
One more night to go before VACATION! Yayz!
