I'm sitting here struggling through my homework with my PC wired through my stereo and the last two songs that have played strike me as ? non-traditional songs about love. The first song was Kelly Price's take on Shirley Murdock's classic "As We Lay", a song about the morning after an adulterous liasion. Lovely stuff about messing up a marriage. Next was Anita Baker's "Fairy Tales", about a relationship that was anything but. Going through my playlist the only other song I find that sort of fits the criteria is The Toadies "Possum Kingdom", because that's just really screwed up. Oh, and AFI's "Silver and Cold" - vampire love song!

Anyone know any interesting non-traditional love songs they want to share? And no, Weird Al's "You Don't Love Me Anymore" does not count.

Hmm...I think Radiohead's "Exit Music for a Film" might fit. It is about two lovers attempting to run from robots and getting killed, after all.

To me it's anything that's not similar to "I Will Always Love You". Songs about stalking, songs about f'd up unrequited love relationships, songs about supernatural messed up love. I'm pretty loose with the description. Chances are if you think of the song when you think of someone you really really love it's not what I'd call a non-traditional love song. Unless you're a freak, in which case okay.

Well, I'm a freak, so....

There's probably quite a few of them in the lighter songs I listen to [when not listening to metal], that are about relationships in some shape or form.
Probably a few in Lene Marlin's songs, I guess...
