Not that I particularly care about the happenings of Sir McCartney, but blah blah his marriage might be on the outs and the media's raising all sorts of questions about prenuptial agreements that I've thought off and on about since Lord knows when. Does signing a prenup mean that you believe your marriage will go down the tubes? Or is it just a safety net because realistically you know something like 1/2 (3/4?) of marriages end with a visit to the local judge? Out of curiosity I have to ask -

Comments, marriage proposals...drop 'em below. Enlighten me, please.

In other non-related media news, Halle Berry wants to quit the whole superhero gig. Good! - go frak up some other movies I have no intention to see. That woman's "acting" makes me break out into hives.

A prenup does not necessarily mean that both spouses are expecting the marriage to fail. What a prenup can do is protect the other partner in certain circumstances. Like, if the husband gets sued by whomever, the prenup would guarantee that the wife's assets cannot be touched. Only the husband would possibly lose everything. Vice versa, of course. It can also guarantee other things such as debts... if the wife (or husband) has outstanding debts, the other spouse would not be held accountable in helping to repay them.

Etc., etc., I personally think prenups are a good idea if you truly love someone and don't want to possibly involve them in your future downfalls. Prenups get a bad rap for no good reason. They're actually quite ideal.

I agree. I had no idea prenups were useful in case of lawsuit or material losses by one party, though. Interesting.
