Then again, Snape seemed rather shocked Harry got through his defenses at all. You'd think his thoughts would have been pretty wide open, and Lily would appear to be foremost in those thoughts 24/7. I gave it to Rowlings, but only because I was swept up in the awesomeness of the entire ride.
And yes, the ship that never did sail. Rowlings didn't quite sell me on Tonks/Remus, but who am I to argue with canon?
