Random Update, whoo-hoo!
May. 31st, 2008 10:47 amPlease to fill out, please.
It's really humbling to hear your 18 year-old brother refer to a movie that came out in 1995 as "old" (I initially couldn't persuade the 23 year-old one to watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade because he thought it was *too* old [is boggled], but when he finally got around to checking it out he proclaimed his love for it). I know it's just a kid thing, where everything that you can't recall is automatically stuck in that category, but Jesus. He and I sat down to watch Demon Knight last night, one of my favorite cheesy flicks. I'd forgotten how hilarious Billy Zane's performance was in that thing. Intentionally hilarious, not hilariously bad. For a low-budget Tales from the Crypt movie the acting was surprisingly spot-on and the script was pretty decent (then again, check out the names listed on the producing screen).
Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to the Get Smart movie? Steve Carell is frequently hilarious, The Rock is hot like fire, and Anne Hathaway is back to being her adorable self. Smells like win all around. I think the only other summer movies I'm looking forward to are Hancock, Wall E, and the latest Batman. I'm not going to front: I made it my business to get my hands on the Sex in the City DVDs and watched 'em from beginning to end while up at school. But the thought of ponying up to see the movie has me rolling my eyes. Why, God; why?
I caught the last 30 minutes of the latest BSG episode (Sine Qua Non). I haven't kept up with this season outside of the first two episodes, so what I took in knocked me for a loop AND knocked my socks. Then again, what I get from the BBs is that the eppy was mainly filler, which...damn. Apollo's looking mighty fine these days, isn't he (although "Leland"? are you effin' shitting me??)? *
The folks at the hospital threw another party for me on my last night. As it was Memorial Day weekend the ER was pretty empty and we didn't get many admissions, so we were able to take our time over the cake and ice cream and other wonderful stuff (homemade samosas! score!). Again, it was nice. I'll miss the company of many of my former co-workers, but don't think I'll head back to do per diem work like some of the managers were bandying around. I'd only be able to work weekends, I'm not interested in days, and 12-hour overnight Saturday shifts when one is on a normal 9-5 schedule can fuck one over something fierce.
New job jitters. Let's see what I'm getting myself into.
*And did Lamkin remind anyone else of The Question? Anyone? Anyone at all?

Date: 2008-06-01 07:08 pm (UTC)I loved Get Smart when I was young, and Steve Carrell should do well in the role, so I was excited enough, but now you tell me Anna Hathaway's in it too? I might die of joy!

Date: 2008-06-02 06:28 am (UTC)Get Smart = good times. I love the scene from the ad where The Rock staples a sheet of paper to some random dude's head. I'm simple like that.
