My Dragon*Con diet consisted mainly of Chik-Fil-A sandwiches once [livejournal.com profile] atraxia introduced me to that place's utter cracktastic goods (seriously: chicken sandwiches + waffle fries + a medium sweet tea = heaven), and I didn't gain a single pound. If anything, I actually *lost* weight.

I think I'm going about this whole thing all wrong.

Surprisingly, the chicken sandwiches are some of the "best" fast food sandwiches you can get, health-wise. Well, you know, at least according to lists of some sorts out there on the internets.

That combo is seriously my favorite. Seriously. I love their tea.

I wish we had them up in NY. Then again, maybe not. Then I'd really be rolling my way to work. :/

The chix sandwiches might be "relatively" okay, but those waffle fries? Proudly cooked in peanut oil? Artery busters, I'm sure of it. But oh! oh! so good!!

My one saving grace must have been the fact that the joint's closed on Sundays.

There's one in the NYU dining hall, apparently, but you need to know a student to get in.

Or pull out ninja skillz if the urge becomes great. I'll keep this in mind.

There's one at a mall near me, but I've always walked past. They catered a private luncheon Mr. B attended, and my wife was fairly impressed with... something. The food itself? The presentation? I don't remember.

Now I just might have to try it.

Of course, it's at a mall *near* me, meaning I have to drive an hour or so to get there... =)

You should, if you're passing by (although the waffle fries alone might be worth the gas money). I was skeptical of the hype and remained firmly entrenched in skeptic territory as I took my first bite. But when I started *chewing* - completely thrown for a wonderfully tasty loop by the lightly buttered toasted bun and the spicy moist chicken patty (I swear they aren't sponsoring this comment, btw). And it's fast food but it just feels super light yet filling.

Then again, having the chatty southern folk serve me without being surly might have factored into the whole experience.

:D Chik-fil-a is the best! Their food is so good, and I think I'd cry if I had to move somewhere and leave those waffle fries. I've been a fan of theirs since I was like...three years old.

And the people there are actually friendly, which is another plus. It's pretty surprising given the usual fast food employees are like "RGH GET OUT NOW."

I KNOW! I was in the front of this long line, a line full of Storm Troopers, superheroes and other things of that nature, and the fellow who took my order still took time out to ask me where I was from and how I was enjoying the con. And then the woman the next day I went actually *smiled* and talked to me in complete sentences. Boggles the mind.

Argh! I was forced to eat whatever I could find -- be it pizza, hot dogs, a snickers powerbar...

Still lost weight though, which is always a plus. XD

*grin* Yes, what with all the walking around and restless fidgeting that went on this weekend, this doesn't surprise me.

And happy (very) belated birthday!

I love chik-fil-a just for their billboards! I maintain that dieting actually makes your body rebel and gain weight so I try not to do it. Hey, I'm wearing the same size I did in high school!

Go you!

When I use the word "diet" in reference to myself, 99% of the time it's in the medical context, as in "what one puts in one's mouth", not the colloquial context, as in "crazy-ass food deprivation scheme most likely involving grapefruits, something from South Beach, and/or imbibing large glasses of paprika-sprinkled vinegar for some odd reason". :) And go you right back, Slim. :)

We don't have Chik-Fil-A in New England, and after reading this post, that makes me kind of sad. My high school cafeteria, of all places, used to have an amazing spicy chicken sandwich and I've been trying to find something similar ever since.

OMG, it's addictively good. Fresh, not too spicy, and *light* (for fried food, anyway). I miss it muchly.

I didn't get to try the breakfast stuff. I was too enamored with the chicken sandwich and left the biscuit alone. I need to check those out for next time. :)
