Thank you [livejournal.com profile] nelliewu and [livejournal.com profile] alicetheowl for the holiday cards (and glitter *grin*). I'm a little slowed down these days so I haven't mailed most of mine out yet (*sigh*), but they're due to be in the post by tomorrow morning.

I've enjoyed reading other folk's Year in Review posts and I figured I might as well join the crowd. Below are the subject lines and first couple of sentences from each month's first post. Subject lines are links to said posts.

January: Kneel before my porcelain majesty... Even though I'm out of the house and/or sleeping secluded in my BatDen way more hours than I spend socializing with my family, I managed to catch the stomach virus thing that's been making the rounds.

February: BIG BLUE! and other lesser things. I have no effin' voice left. Oh my GOD, what an amazing game!

March: (no title) It feels like it's been forever since I've had three nights off in a row, and I don't know what to do with myself. This being my third night I keep fighting the urge to take a nap (in preparation for a shift).

April: Don't say I never did you nothin'. Huh. Works for menstrual cramps *and* tension headaches; who knew?

May: A sign? or simply a shitty theatre? The hour and thirty-five minutes of Iron Man I managed to see was incredibly awesome.

June: ::headdesk:: Apparently I have massive man hands.

July:(no title) Hancock led to a rather inevitable race discussion with Middle Bro. I started things by pointing out that the makers of the movie neatly sidestepped direct mention of racial tension/discrimination against Hancock (played by Will Smith) and Mary (played by Charlize Theron) by labeling the people who perpetrated violence against the two characters "they".

August:(no title) Okay, y'all were right. Altered Carbon? Frackin' AWESOME.

September:Edward James Olmos is entirely too fond of shouting "so say we all". Very tired. Dragon*Con was beyond awesome.

October:Comedy for DAYS. Fifteen minutes in, and Sarah Palin is officially the most hilarious thing I've seen on television this Fall.

November: Yayz! I'm NaNoing! [*snort* - ed.]

I'll probably email you further about this, but I have recently been playing around with a thought. You know how I have a passing interest in nursing? Well, I've been thinking about how a) it's been difficult for me to find a job in my field lately; b) the economy sucks; c) my field (planning) probably won't recover or be seen as needed in the way that it should be soon enough for my liking; d)...I'll stop there for now, really. I'm thinking about going to school for nursing if I can't find a job in the near future.

Dan and I had been talking about DC, but he may get a promotion very, very soon that would lead to a little more money and other opportunities. I'm wondering if there's any chance of me finding a program in which my tuition would be paid for (even with provisions--such as that I agree to work with a certain hospital or in a specific city or state or whatever, etc.)? Also, I haven't actually taken any real college-level biology classes (excepting environmental biology) or chemistry or anything like that. I'd likely look at UIC or another school in Chicago (which you may well know nothing about. Anyway, just a thought for now.

Nurses are always needed. And, honestly, you can make enough on most jobs in a larger city that even if you end up taking out loans there shouldn't be much issue with payback. But, yeah, there are programs out there you can look into. Drop me an e-mail if/when you have specific questions and I'll help the best I can.

I owe about $40k in student loans right now, so I can't imagine adding on to them. Grr. But, yes, I'm still thinking of specific questions.

Of course there's glitter! Christmas cards without glitter are like a Christmas tree without tinsel.

(I gotta remember to get a picture of our tree up to share, so people know why I'm always going on about the damn tinsel.)

I do so love tinsel. Our tree has yet to be decorated. I'm happy with a couple of strings of white light, but the folks like lots of flair. I'm compromising by not doing *anything* with it. So there.

I've been known to go through 2 - 3 boxes of the stuff on one tree. I just can't resist how pretty and shiny it gets with all that tinsel . . .
