There are definitely not enough hours in the day. Of course, that's only accurate during weekend and/or non-working hours. There's so much more vegging I'd like to do, but instead I have to mentally prepare myself for the the jobby-job. *pout* I have finished watching Supernatural up through the latest episode and made some headway into another book (I know! Two in two months! Gah, I'm such a slacker), so that's a plus. Things I have not managed to do this w/e: prep for the GREs, complete a story, unburden myself from the shackles of arachnophobia, develop a unifying theory of life and everything/ disprove 42, talk like a pirate, bring about world peace. Small goals, mind.

This past Friday I joined [livejournal.com profile] atraxia at the Soho Apple Store for a Meet the Actor gig with Nathan Fillion (that's "Cap'n Tightpants" for those in the know). The focus of the discussion was on Nathan's current show, Castle (both K. and I are in agreement that it's a dreadfully cliche show, but Nathan makes it somewhat palatable. In small doses.), but there was a Q&A at the end where folks did talk about Dr. Horrible and the rest of Fillion's Whedon work. Nathan was funny and charismatic and very much worth waiting on the marble floor of the Apple Store for two hours and sitting through a presentation on iTunes 9.0 for a hour.

Saturday the folks and I headed over to Jersey to catch little bro's team play a football game. And lose horribly, 52 to nil. It was just painful to watch, and all I had to do was sit on the hot bleachers and sip my Coke. I mean, his team couldn't even hit a field goal. Oy. Bro came home afterward for the first time since starting college, and mom babied him until his departure this afternoon. For dinner today she made a massive lasagna, a whole turkey, macaroni pie, the whole works. I really want to know who's going to eat the food now. Or where it's going to be stored. Meh.

Today I haven't managed to do much more than go to the gym and shower. But it's the Day of Rest, dammit! I'm allowed.

I more or less know what I'm going to be up to for the big 3-0 next year. I do wish I could say I can see a sig. o. in the equation (as the Match.com ad plays on the television - curse you, media outlets), but not so much (alone and eaten by wild dogs, I tell you). I mention this because over the last two weeks my favorite grandmother has nagged me about my lack of boyfriend every time I've seen her. She's lucky I enjoy her company, because otherwise it'd get very tiresome very fast. It's hard to explain how bad I am with personal interactions to someone who's convinced I'm the best thing since single-serve ZipLock Bags and wants me to be "well taken care of" and in a relationship (notice how the two are linked).

*sigh*

In conclusion, I'm as tired of the whole Kanye thing as everyone else, but Chaucer Hath A Blog's Contribution is good for a laugh. Chaucer's take on the Twilight phenomenon? also great.

Re: Chaucer vs Kanye? The best part is actually Richard II's comment. I can't stop laughing.

Oh my, thank you so much for posting those. Also I am jealous that you went to the Apple Store to see Nathan Fillion!

As if I wasn't already hopelessly addicted to the Apple Store, Nathan gave me another excuse to pop in. Today they had Isabella Rossellini. Later this week? The Coen Brothers. Such a great line up.

The Chaucer blog on the Kanye incident... LOL.

Stay away from those wild dogs... It's nice to have someone who thinks you're the best and everyone who doesn't get that is an idiot. Frustrating when they have a different angle on your life than you do, but still, nice. ^_^

I figure if I get consumed I'm at least contributing to my fellow creatures. And it's much more poetic.

Grandmothers have your best interests at heart, I know, but ... *sigh* I should just make someone up to assuage her ::works on forging a marriage license::
