It's been a relatively quiet week. No complaints from my end (I know! I will reconcile this in the near future). I feel good. And well. Good and well. I do feel as though I'm pulling a turtling act, but as it's cyclical for me I figure I'll move past soon enough.

Friday I went with an aunt to see the new Christmas Carol movie. It's a flick that I'd never choose to see if left to my own devices, but my aunt wanted to go and I figured I'd hang with her for a bit. We were both expecting a comedy as Jim Carrey was headlining, but there were few (intentional) laughs to be had. The dialogue was fairly sparse overall (which I appreciated), but the entire movie felt a little "off" to me. Part of it had to do with the eerie appearance of Zemeckis's CGI animation choice; the stop-action animation's attempts to mirror live-action lent everything a horror-like quality, as if characters were one glance away from grinning manically and brandishing bloody silverwear. My aunt wanted a comedy and so was disappointed with the presentation. I didn't want a comedy and was still somewhat disappointed (I do wish things had stuck closer to the source material, as I don't think idiotic overly long chase scenes involving unexplained shrinking factored much into Dickens's work).

One good thing to come out of Friday's movie experience? We were shown a preview trailer for the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Holy Cocaine, that movie looks awesome. True fact: I spent the first two minutes of the trailer chuckling at the edited slashy onscreen interactions between RDJ's Holmes and Jude Law's Watson before a female character stated the two had been flirting since the first day they met. Bwah! Loving it. December 26th? I'm SO THERE.

I'm also stoked about a movie coming out November 25th, Ninja Assassin. The plot looks absolutely ridiculous, but it does star Rain (RAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN! ::shakes fist at sky::), and that dude is hot as hell. Yeah, I'm shallow; wanna make something of it?

On the reading front I'm up to the fifth book in the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series, titled The Last Olympian. The series as a whole has been a fun read, but not the engrossing ride I thought I'd find after finishing the first chapter of the first book. It's impossible not to draw parallels to the Harry Potter series, and I find myself wishing that more time was spent on details during Percy Jackson, even if it were to lead to the bloating that was found in the latter HP books.

I haven't been keeping up with my shows. I last saw "How I Met Your Mother" three weeks ago, and I have a backlog of two episodes of "Supernatural" on my iPod. When I come home I barely have enough energy to make it through the Times before I wrap things up for the night. I'm slacking. *sigh* Still, I'm relatively upbeat so that should count a little. It was a gorgeous outside today, I do hope it keeps up for a good portion of the week.

I would watch anything besides that Jim Carrey film. I was sitting there thinking "I really miss the He-Man/She-Ra Christmas special. I could be watching that now instead of being creeped out by Tiny Tim". Srsly.

And ditto on the Law/Downey Jr combo. It should be illegal, that amount of hotness on the screen at one time.
