The brined turkey was amazing: tender, not too salty, finger-licking good. I made a simple gravy of the drippings (sans giblets, because I detest that stuff) with a roux base, and that also kicked major ass. I also picked up a pecan pie from Whole Foods (they had an entire table laden with a number of pies near the check-out area and I just had to give in) and, Jesus, effin' joygasm in my mouth. Loved it. Family was over and we ate, chatted, and watched football. I don't think I could have asked for much more.

Remember, folks - tomorrow is WHITE GUILT AMNESTY DAY. Do with your pass what you will.

That is all.

I hadn't had pecan pie in forever, and was lucky to run into Whole Foods right when they were stocking up on the stuff. So many calories, but SO GOOD.

!!! i remember when na young (my last korean roommate) tried pecan pie for the first time. it was from whole foods, too! after that she bought a slice every other time we went. XD i appreciated it vicariously through her enjoyment... along with with rocky horror picture show, it was one american thing i was super excited to introduce her to. at least i still remember the flavor... <3

Why have you gone that long since pecan pie?? Is it not available in your area.
Shall I contact ACLU to investigate what's going on?

Aww. I feel bad, as for you the yummy taste of pecan pie is also the yummy taste of death and/unsightly hives and respiratory distress. No bueno, my friend.

I say you should enjoy whatever treat you'd like. I'm now obligated to eat a piece of pecan pie for you, my homey. Stay strong.

Is there any sort of sanctioned celebration for White Guilt Amnesty Day, or can I just run over some minimum wage employee at Walmart and call it done?

The major rule is that the phrase "I have a black friend" has officially been replaced with "I voted for Obama". No creepy smiling.

Dude, I've been ready for a while. I've been re-watching the Rain clips on Colbert Nation to psyche myself up. :)

It turned out really good this year, so moist that I was honestly surprised at my awesomeness. *grin*

No, I kid - I'm always aware of how much awesome I bring to the table.

No, I'm still kidding. :) But it was quite good. I'm glad your turkey day was good as well.
