This entire week has felt like the worst day ever. 4:31pm on Friday cannot come fast enough. I've been getting riled up at random times, and more often than not the focus of my anger is me. Not fun.

So - give me recommendations For anything: books, movies, events, fic, locations. Or tell me something, anything - mottos, bon mots, things you've enjoyed recently. I need some inspiration.

Ummm.... hmm. I just read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and I quite enjoyed it.

I also quite liked the new Sherlock series that BBC just aired. And i just discovered BBC's Survivors which freaks me out and gives me icky dreams, but I love it anyway.

I'll get back to you if I think of anything else!

I second Pride and Prejudice and Zombies...a lot of fun!

I loved PPZ. I ended up visualizing all the characters from the BBC mini-series version as the main players of the book in my head. Colin Firth could totally play a trained zombie assassin. :)

I don't think Sherlock or Survivors are playing on BBC America yet (we don't have BBC in my home, no satellite), but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Um, I can give you a hug?

Oh, wait, I know. A couple of years ago I went to a little nearby town (45 miles or so) right before Easter when they have an egg art show...here are some pictures. Not great shots, but pretty eggs. Some chicken eggs, some goose eggs, a couple of ostrich eggs, too.

I would take a hug. Hugs are completely acceptable, no consulting of judges needed. :)

Those eggs are lovely. The picture of the decorated ostrich eggs (the hollowed out one looked like it would make a neat tea light holder) surrounding the bowl of smaller colored eggs was my favorite. Thanks for sharing the link.

This ST Reboot/BSG crossover fic series is long, gritty, extremely well-plotted, and fixed everything I hated about Moore's ending. Also beautiful. I cried a couple of times. I won't tell you who the plant is (you'll find out soon enough) but I will tell you that this fic converted me to its primary ship. And the secondary ship? Beyond perfect, and beautiful. The whole series is beautiful.

Hee. Well, I'm a skipper of the primary ship, so that bodes quite well ::opens link in new tab:: Long fic that fixes canon? FTW. Thanks so much! :)

Let me know what you thought! I got to the end of it and cried buckets (in a good, cathartic way) and I'm still chewing on it, metaphorically.

I was not on board for TOS, although I do find K/S/Mc to be cracktastic joy, but holy cow, can I see it in Reboot. TOO MANY SHIPS NOT ENOUGH TIME. Next movie will be epic.

Don't think I remember seeing you mention watching this, so I figured I'd recommend True Blood to you. Vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters, oh my! Plus all kinds of blood and sex, and plenty of sarcasm to go around. Definitely think it's something you might enjoy.

I fully intend to take the DVDs out of the plastic wrap this weekend. My brother has been trying to get me to watch this show for the last year. I have the first 2 seasons on DVD but just never found the time to take it in. Soon to be remedied. Thanks for the rec!

Um well - I can give you hug for real if we meet up sometime this weekend! ;)

But for real for real a couple of quotes made me smile this week:

1)"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." - Albert Einstein

2)"I have often depended on the blindness of strangers."
- Adrienne E. Gusoff

3)"In a fight against you are the world; back the world."
- Unknown

4)"Human beings are the only creatures on earth that allow their children to come back home."
- Bill Coby

Hope you you get inspired or at least perk up some!

Hugs! I think this w/e will find me turtling like a turtling thing, but thanks for the offer. :)

And the Cosby quote FTW (I say this as a boomeranger myself). Thanks for sharing those. They are awesome.

I'm reading a scifi/fantasy series you might like: the company novels by kage baker, the first of which is The Garden of Iden.

I went looking for the series in B&N, but they were out of stock of all but book 2 and book 8? I'll keep my eyes peeled, maybe see if I can find them in another store. Thanks for the rec!

Thanks for the recs!

I read the most horrible ebook last week. Guy takes a part time job feeding a vampire (already Pulitzer prize material!) Apparently vampires really like diabetics...but wait! Not only is guy diabetic, he's "a little" psychic! So now the vampire, after one meeting and about 5 sentences decides he's in LOVE! And the best part. The very last page involves fairy bodyguards who say "do you think he knows the human is part fairy?" lolololololol! and that's the end. plot? who needs that!? Seriously though. I have a total of 11 non-sleep or working hours off this week. 11! How is that even possible. I am hating life this week. I hope your friday afternoon comes swiftly. I have to clean and do errands so I can go back to work tomorrow. ugh.

Gah! I thought arctic fox was bad. You win at picking reading material. And you actually *finish* them, don't just curse humanity and throw things. *grin*

And I'm sorry your sucky schedule is made of suck. Grr, work.

I continue to endorse Friday Night Lights.

I'm reading "The Kid" by Dan Savage, which is about him and his boyfriend trying to adopt. It's pretty funny so far. My husband is reading "Black Blade Blues", which is apparently about a modern day lesbian blacksmith who finds some powerful sword and there's Norse mythology or something or other ... I didn't totally follow. But, he says he's enjoyed it so far, though it's slower than he expected.

And if you need some cheering up otherwise, enjoy this adorable video:

*grin* That poor Corgi. It's not its fault that its legs are stubs.
I watched that vid during my lunch break and laughed aloud enough times to call attention to myself.

And I picked up The Kid. Had been meaning to for a while. Thank you for the recommendation. :)

Aww! I sort of want to teach Mitch the importance of eye contact. Funny stuff, though. The Yoplait stuff? Gold. Thank you for the video and the kind words. :)

There's never too much Literal Video of Total Eclipse. It never gets old for me either. :)

And, you know, I picked up Confederacy in college and kept trying to read it. Couldn't get through it with much success. I figure I'll have to try it again one of these days. I did pick up the Sherman Alexie book today, though. Can't wait to get started.

Thanks so much for the recs (will check out the other books!) and the vid.

I <3 you!!!

I totally need another NYC day with you. Let's plan something ok??? But maybe when it's not in the 90's to 100's in heat.

Recommendations? Wish I did...umm...maybe watch a silly movie like Spaceballs or something...

The heat is INSANE. Seems like it'll be breaking sometime before, say, January. Which is encouraging. :) Definitely will have to meet up again. Let me know if/when you'll be able to head down (or I can come up to your neck of the woods, it's only fair), and we'll museum hop or take in a show.

When I need a real, muscle-spasming belly laugh, I like to turn to Why Women Hate Men. It's the commentary that really makes it.

God Hates Protesters is also a lot of fun.

Speaking of counter-protests, have you seen the photos from SDCC? I've never been so proud to be a nerd.
