I returned from Atlanta and Dragon Con a couple of hours ago. My bags are unpacked, my dirty laundry washed, and my work e-mail box was opened. And now I'm fretting about my return to the office. Joy. No massive retelling of D*Con shenanigans are forthcoming because I don't have the energy for it now, and I'm pretty sure the most scandalous thing I did was wait to check out until 11:59 this afternoon (I'm a rebel, watch out!). I'm going to post a few points on the long weekend - I enjoyed myself, I got to hang with nice folks, and meet some neat celebs.

*A quote from Ben Browder : "I watch NASCAR. I listen to NPR. I like to keep things balanced. It keeps me clean." From Monday's SG Multiverse Panel. Lots of love for that man now.

*Bounced around with [livejournal.com profile] desolate03, met [livejournal.com profile] alicetheowl for the first time, and ran into [livejournal.com profile] muse_neko again while taking the train to the hotel.

*Sat in on a Q&A with JIm Butcher, where he gave a preview tidbit for the next book in the Dresden series, said he created the Codex Alera series after being challenged to write a story incorporating both the Roman Empire and Pokemon, and geeked out about MMORPGs.

*Got to see Jonathan Frakes be a bit of a douche to Denise Crosby during the ST:NG panel, resulting in Ms. Crosby storming off the stage during the middle of the panel.

*Shook hands and chatted briefly with Michael Shanks without turning into a puddle of squee or embarassing myself too badly. The man remains gorgeous.

*Became addicted to White Collar (the gent who plays Neal is a pretty pretty man) and Mad Men (Christina Hendricks makes my girly parts tingle).

*Yet again was unable to sit through the entirety of the NC-17 fanfic panel. I understand the group squee mentality, but at least if you're moderating *try* to stop giggling long enough to engage the entire audience, not just your friends and/or fellow panel members. Just call the damn thing "Fans laughing about naughty naughty PWPs" and call it a day, huh?

*General small panel disappointment on my end. I'm looking forward to Arisia if only to be able to participate in focused fan-based dialogue.

* Paul McGillion seems stuck on his kiss with David Hewlett from the SGA episode Duet. Dude must have mentioned it at least 10 times during Monday's panel. It was funny; we get it.

*It would appear that forgetting one's D*Con postcard is the way to fast track through the massive pre-reg line. *grin*

Had fun, cannot wait until next year.

Mmm... Michael Shanks. I'm jealous.

Meeting Shanks was the first time I got up the nerve to speak with a celeb I'd followed. Last Con I stalked the dude who played Zelenka on SGA while he was in the Walk of Fame without actually walking up to him.

OMG I was at the ST:TNG group panel and the Jim Butcher Q&A as well! DAMMIT! Did you also get into the Brent Spiner panel? We got on line THREE HOURS before the panel started so we could be sure to get in. I basically laughed for an hour straight. OMG BRENT SPINER IS SUCH A BASTARD. AND HILARIOUS.

As for the ST:TNG group panel, though -- didn't Denise Crosby walk off after Brent said that thing about her having a chip on her shoulder? LOLZ. I was surprised by how sensitive she was being, though! Someone said she's just like that. =(

We took our time getting to the Brent Spiner panel and were turned away from the line by staffers who said the room was at capacity. I knew Spiner would be great fun. Dang.

And the Frakes/Crosby thing was a culmination of a bunch of jabs from Frakes. I didn't think it was Brent who said she had a chip on her shoulder, though. The woman seemed a little out of it anyway - overly sensitive and unable to pick up on the banter that was going on with the other panelists.

Butcher didn't reveal too much that wasn't out already, I think. He said "Ghost Story" would be about Harry's ghost trying to solve his murder. Lots of ghostly hijinx. No chapter read or anything, as he said it hasn't gone to be edited yet.

And I'm actually on vacation the the week of Arisia, so I definitely plan on making it out if funds allow. Seems like it'll be fun. :)
