1. Wait, so no one mentioned that Fright Night is being remade with a scheduled release of this summer? And Colin Farrell, David Tennent, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Anton Yelchin are involved?? I am tentatively excited about this. Fright Night was one of *the* movies of my childhood (I thank WPIX for replaying this, Firestarter, and The Howling over and over again during the summer). Good times.
2. A Game of Thrones is premiering this Sunday on HBO. Sort of "meh" on this one, probably because my disappointment in the later books in the series is seeping through. The reviews seem to be positive and state that all the violence and sex and political machinations are alive and well. Uhm, guess that's okay? Just give me some Jon Snow and I'll be okay.
And Aidan Gillen is playing Littlefinger. AND how did I forget Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. Okay, I'm in.
3. Speaking of actors in A Game of Thrones, does anyone think Jason Momoa is getting tired of being cast as the barbarian/warrior type? He's cast as Khal Droga in Thrones and he's staring as the title character in the Conan motion picture remake due this summer. Or is he just happy to be making enough money to pay this bills?
4. I'm not going to front: I'm looking forward to the Thor movie next month. The commercials have slow-mo hammer action! Hair flowing in the wind! Cameos from S.H.I.E.L.D. agents! And stuff getting blown up real good. Can't ask for more than that.
5. Still loving on Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World v. v. hard. Also, the video game continues to garner brownie points.

Date: 2011-04-16 04:47 am (UTC)Yeah believe it or not, I wasn't too stoked about this until recently, when I started watching the trailers for it. Seeing him talk about playing Tyrion I remembered how much I loved him...

The hell is up with that? I mean, if you have to do it, Drogho is kind of cool because you get to learn a new language, but, uhm, it's still... uhm, yeah.
Well, I guess we all need to pay bills. You may have a point there.
Also, I'm glad you're looking forward to Thor too. I was starting to feel extremely lame. Well, I still do, but in a good way :D

Date: 2011-04-16 01:35 pm (UTC)Btw - I wish they'd had more Dinklage in the trailers I'd seen. Tyrion is such an integral character to the series, and Dinklage really does own when he's on-screen.

Date: 2011-04-16 03:50 pm (UTC)Well, because he's Tyrion. But also because--yes. That little girl who plays Arya also seems dead cool.
hot guy + hammer + 'splosions? As long as it's not Transformers I should be okay.
My feelings exctly! I'm pretty sure our knowledge of Thor comes from the same place then. And everything I know of Valhalla comes from the New Mutants/Moonstar and her weird issues with that. It's all very vague.

Date: 2011-04-16 04:54 pm (UTC)Not going to watch too many trailers, because I don't want to spoil myself and/or overhype for the actual show. I did find myself wondering if they aged up Daenerys at all, because from the glimpses I caught seems like they didn't flinch with the whole consummation scene between her and Drogo.
There was a throwaway line in two of the trailers I caught where a woman said something along the lines of "I can't stomach someone who would kill children"...? I can hear all the readers of ASOIAF LOLing from my room with that one.
And, yes, Arya! She's my #2, and I'm glad the actress playing her seems competent.
*grin* I think you might have more on Thor than I do. I want to go all Norse mythology but while the trailers mention Thor being a god (duh), all the previews I've come across say the Thor in this movie is not actually a god. Trying to not offend the red states, maybe?

Date: 2011-04-17 03:30 pm (UTC)I think they just pick an accent and make everyone do it so as not to be disorienting. Why it has to be British, I don't know--when it comes to the Borgias I'm just glad they're not trying to sound Italian :/
It'd make more sense for Westeros if everyone had an accent like they should--like everyone from the north sounds one way, everyone in Kings Landing another... but hey. They invented a language for it. I'm all right.

I think I saw... someone somewhere talking about this once. Can't recall exactly, but I think they did because there was a reference to, "There's one character who's supposed to be married at 14 and obviously we couldn't have that..." and I figured that was her.
"I can't stomach someone who would kill children"...
HAHAHA... I actually tried to read the first book when I was 16, just after it came out... and had to put it down because of that. (Guess who my favorite character is now? Yep. Love him.)

Oh god, I hadn't thought of that. I'll bet you're right :/

Date: 2011-04-17 01:49 pm (UTC)Game - I dont have HBO so I wont be watching it until netflix picks it up :( despite the last book being meh, the others were so good, i'd watch it just to see how they handled everything. Plus the next book will have Tyrion, Jon, and Arya POVs!!
As far as Jason Mamoa, Im sure he's glad to pay the bills. Remember quite a number of big actors today started off the same way so he's taking a gamble that the same will pay off for him.
Thor - oh yeah!
