Me: I get to pick the next book we read for the book club.
Mom: Oh, really?
Me: Yeah. I'm going to go with a graphic novel.
Mom: What?
Bro: What? Oh no, not some "dark princess/dark knight/vampire" thing.
Me: ::eyeroll::No, not "gothic novel", graphic novel. I'm going to go with Blankets [by Craig Thompson]. You know Blankets. I thought I mentioned it to you.
Mom: Aww, not a graphic novel. What happened to Orlando?
Me: Mom, what's Orlando about? How am I supposed to tie that into religious debate?
Mom: *pause* Uhm, homosexual gay male...?
Me: *pause, blink, big-ass laugh* It's about gender lines, Mom!

Man, I love when I can leave home with a smile on my face. Of course, when I went by the library to pick up Blankets to refresh my memory on it, the library had been cordoned off, apparently in a bomb scare. Whee! Fun. I wish I had some reading material to take with me on the subway. I hate riding with nothing to distract me.

Orlando...I saw a movie of the same name...Is it where this woman/man/whatever lives through several different lives and loves and whatnot? I suck at describing it...I think I know what you're talking about, though.

Yup. That's it. Tilda Swinton's in it. I really like watching her work.
