fredericks: (Nice teacup)
First - thanks for the lovely card, [livejournal.com profile] devoosha! Such a sweet way to start the day.
I have my cards and I'm going to mail them on Monday so the nine of you should get it by Friday at the latest. Again, it's not much, but things like these can certainly introduce a little cheer.

The reason for this post: I'm looking for ideas on what I should get my mother for Christmas. She's had a really tough couple of months and I'm thinking something related to relaxation/meditation might be good, but I'm game for any and all suggestions at the moment. Well, maybe not any and all - $300 is my upper limit and it has to be something available in stores because online shipping in time will be nigh impossible. Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

I keep meaning to write a really long post on my stress-filled yesterday but then I get guilted about wasting time on LJ instead of studying and end up doing "something else"...that "something else" generally NOT consisting of studying.

A glance at my breakdown for today -
Time at the dentist: 1 hour
Time in various stages of dinner preparedness: 2 hours
Time laundering money clothing: 1 hour
Time surfing the web: 1.5 hours
Time with my nose in a textbook supposedly studying: .5 hours
Time spent in mental masturbation: Infinity hours

Shyeah...things look real good for me. Promising. All-nighter much?
The oddest thing is that when I truly do not want to study while I'm trying to read my books I start daydreaming about two guys engaging in terribly captivating coitus. It's like my brain knows precisely what it has to do to screw me over. If there was ever a time I wished I had a couple of hits of Ritalin this is it.

On a completely unrelated (*snort*) note, the LOGO premiere of Fingersmith tomorrow looks hot very promising. I've always been fond of a period piece. Between Fingersmith, the marathon of Bob and Rose tonight (recorded for posterity; go me!) and the airing of Beautiful Thing in a couple of minutes I'm convinced LOGO has it in for my nursing career.

I have to add my amazing fuzzy and warm woolen hat to the "FUCK! I can't believe I lost it!" list. I either mistakenly left it in the bag of nursing supplies I handed back yesterday or it's riding the rails somewhere in Manhattan as I type. Damn it.

My icon - made by a fellow NYer. Man, the MTA union is acting a bit like a spoiled brat at this point. But I have to support my line, if nothing else.
