fredericks: (The Monkey!)
I copped out and told the study group that I had a "pressing engagement that came up unexpectedly" and would be unable to make it tomorrow. Technically I do have a pressing engagement - my DVDs certainly aren't going to watch themselves. Funny enough, since the women aren't native English speakers I don't think I managed to get my point across; I received a message from one of them wondering if the change of venue was the reason I'd be unable to attend. I should just come right out and say "no, I simply don't want to have to freak out about reading 110 pages in one night while writing up comprehensive notes on it during vacation - it's not my fault my book didn't arrive until Tuesday...waah! oooooh, naked Apollo!" *click* Oh well. I'll go to the next meeting and bring two units worth of notes.

Looking over my Blockbuster rental choices I seem to have had a Gyllenhaal/Ledger theme in mind:
*Point the first - Secretary with one Maggie Gyllenhaal and THE SPADER.

*Point the second - The Brothers Grimm with one Heath Ledger and Affleck's boy toy. I really wanted to like this movie, particularly since it was written (?) and directed by a Python alum, but I had a perpetual "whu?" face on throughout. Ask me now what it's about and all I can tell you is that Monica Bellucci was very hot. Oh, and Gareth from The Office and the crazy silent killer guy from Fargo were in it as well. Does that killer guy ever play sane characters?

*Point the third - The Good Girl with Jakie-boy and Ms. Aniston. A stupid rental since they seem to show it every other day on Lifetime, but I wants to see the good bits.

*Point the fourth - The Order with Mr. Ledger. I get the feeling this one is also a card-carrying member of Suckville, but when you combine Ledger and clerical robes I turn into Jayne ("I'll be in my bunk").

The last one would be a perfect candidate for "one of these things are not like the others" as it's the Battlestar Galactica mini. I was sad that it would take two weeks and change for me to get the S1 set from Amazon so I had to cave and rent it. Perhaps I'll hunker down with some green tea and watch it tonight. Yes, the thrills never stop in my house.

The football-playing brother is downstairs screaming at the TV and clapping like a trained yet crazy seal while watching whichever the hell Bowl that's on. Why must the children be so scary?

A list meme on some of my interests. Fun for me to type, maybe not so fun for you to read. )
