Christmas!
Dec. 25th, 2005 10:31 amMerry Christmas!!! (the exclamation points are obligatory)
Thank you for the lovely cards
1x2foralways,
living_kindness, and
candicelbj (Candice, if I could bottle and sell the cuteness in the animated card I swear I'd be a millionaire right now)! Such a great way to enter the day. My cards? still staring me in the face. I mislaid my stamps and I didn't have any funds to buy some more. I hope to hunt them down some time tonight. The cards will be New Years gifts, if nothing else (Three Kings Day, anyone?).
The day hasn't quite started yet even though it's 10:30. We all went to Midnight Mass (even if mine started at 11:00PM) and didn't collectively hit the sack until after 2:30AM. Was a little bummed that the church decided to have "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" as the dismissal; "Joy to the World" imbues me with so much more, well, *joy*. But eh - that's Episcopalians for you.
I digress. From the point of view of an adult, today's a great day. My family is healthy, we're all together, we have food in the cupboards, and we're warm. Wonderful blessed day. The child in me, however, is proclaiming this a pretty lame Christmas. I came downstairs and found one present under the tree - a faux albino alligator skin purse from my uncle and his family. One: I don't usually go around with purses. Two:faux albino alligator skin??? These are the same people that, last year, bought me a brown felt workout suit. This suit was multi-toned in that it was tan but had large paths of dark brown on the inside thigh area of the pants. The dark brown was fairly close to my own complexion so when I ran out of clothing (you know how laundry laziness goes) and was forced to wear the pants around the house my family though my pants had holes in it. Just...no. God bless them, though. I love 'em to death (their kids are so adorable!!), even if they can't find presents I'd like.
I hope everyone's Christmas is/was lovely. Get smashed, sing carols, eat too much fruitcake, all that good stuff.
