Around 11PM last night I started asking around, inquiring whether we needed to bring a "doctor's note" if we called in sick. I knew I didn't want to work my shift tonight, you see. Getting splashed with VRE (vancomycin-resistant enterococci) infected urine around 5:30AM sealed the deal. I kindly told the manager right before I left this morning that I would not be in this evening (the staffing count was six with myself taken into account; hopefully this means they won't be short-staffed because of my absence), dropped my scrubs on the stairs down to the washroom as soon as I walked through the door, shuffled upstairs in my underwear, jumped in the shower and washed thoroughly, then went to bed. OMG it's hot like fire in my room.
P.S. - Did I not mention the semi-digested PEG feed that splattered all over my face earlier in the evening? Shyeah. The only thing that was missing from my night was a GIB patient in need of a bowel prep.
