So, yes, work has been bustin' my ass old skool style over the last two weeks (eight days straight! craziness!), and I've only been up to working, coming home, working at home, and then sleeping...and staying up entirely too late reading fic. SGA's Big Bang's been up for a little while and I've finally found time to start on them (I'm a big fan of the epic fics, you see). The story that has been posting a rec in this journal for the first time in eons? Auburn's "The Water Grinds the Stone", a 242K word (!) monster of epic scope. Auburn's one author whose work constantly has been player hating, because her stuff's always so engrossing and well-planned that it simultaneously makes me want to write and makes me want to avoid putting anything down on the page. I mean, the woman's managed to get me to read het and LIKE IT!, so someone needs to give her a medal. I've been digesting "Water" over the last five days, staying up until 1 and 2 in the AM and staggering my way around the Village during the work day, but I've finally wrapped it up and I enjoyed the hell out of it. There were things I liked a lot and things I didn't, but I'll hold those cards to my chest because when I got to "The End" I fist-pumped (only partially because I'm finally guaranteed to get to bed at a normal time tonight). It's McShep, it's post-series, angsty and brings the h/c but doesn't leave you staggered, you know? I'm so Auburn's bitch, yo.
