I've always liked Torchwood best when it took steps away from the fantastic. This episode was about aliens and alien invasions, but the entire conference with the negotiations sucked me in. I loved loved loved it...and then Ianto died and I cried for a good five minutes straight. I mean, I was spoiled by damn near everyone! I knew Gwen wasn't going anywhere because she was pregnant, and I knew Jack was staying put, so Ianto. IANTO! Bloody hell.
...

I need a breather now.

I might have to buy the DVD now. I do hope Part 5 is not a major let-down.

Bonus: Gareth David Lloyd will be returning to Dragon*Con. I hope he attempts to behave himself this time around. ::rubs hands together::

Yeah.

Like I said before....I hate RTD. I mean, it was bad enough with Tosh and Owen, but then we had the potential promise of adding Mickey and Martha. Now, not only did they destroy the Hub (including Jack's brother, who was in cryo in there, remember?), but they killed off Ianto!! For all intents and purposes, there is no Torchwood anymore!

As for part 5.....not a let down, but....I'll leave it at that, because my issues with it are highly spoilery. Get back to me tomorrow. :)

Ianto was my favorite character, and while I understand the "we're mortal, we can die at any moment" aspect of things, he spent a good part of Day 2 running away from people who were shooting at him close-range with nary a nick. Here he gets a dramatic send-off after tons of anvils about Jack being long-lived and closed off and Ianto reacquainting himself with his family. It was just manipulative and needless. I can't see myself watching this show anymore besides checking out Day 5 for closure's sake.
