Okay, so I'm sort of flummoxed right now. I have a Federal Direct Loan that I'm paying off,  prior to this month I had an electronic payment set up. Last month, instead of taking out the regular amount on the 6th of the month, the payment was noted on my bank account on the 27th. A few days ago I received a statement on the Direct Loan header asking me to make a payment by the 7th. BUT! I thought I had the electronic payment set up. The statement is telling me to go to MyEdAccount.com to make a payment or do an account inquiry. Since I don't trust .com websites out of habit I tried to call the listed 800 number. Only to be told that there is a "high volume of calls," and I should visit the damned website.

Anyone else dealing with this right now? I am very confused. If the Feds sold my loan to another agency I received absolutely no advanced notice.

Some one on the Japan forum was just talking about this today. She couldn't get the website to even accept a payment and no one was answering the 800 number. My loans were sold to a 3rd party and I didn't get any notice until the first bill came in the mail. My only suggestion is to call first thing when they start accepting calls in the morning and if all else fails, contact your university to see if they can help. Good luck.

One of the set of loans (*sigh*) I have was sold to Land O' Lakes (or Great Lakes, whateverthehell), and I was given plenty of letters/junk a few months prior. It also didn't affect my payment method. And the mailings I got came on a different letterhead. But this stuff is still coming on Direct Loan letterhead. And payment is "supposed" to be going to the same place. They just decided to be douchenozzles and cancel my direct payment all of a sudden. I think they wanted a way to justify stopping the reduction of my interest.

eta - so I managed to get through. But they're experiencing "high call volume." My wait time to speak with a representative has been ten minutes for the last fifteen minutes. These bastards want to keep me on hold listening to their porny annoying musak until I lose it and kill my family.

They switched everyone to a new website, but they f'd up the transition, so some people's payments didn't get transferred properly. It's happening to a lot of people.

As long as I don't have to mail in any payments or figure out how to start automatic debit again I'm cool. I'm glad it's not isolated.
