I need to work on my subject headings. Maybe it's brain drain, but I continually draw a blank when it comes to the funny there. I'd settle for having something to do with what I'm typing about at least.
Second day of peds clinical. Stayed in the Ped ER for the entire day. I love doing triage work. Love love love. The director of nursing came around during the shift and handed out cards to all the students. Nice touch, but in no way is that hospital one of my first choices when it comes to job hunting. The facilities are run-down and head nurses only make 45k there. If that's what head nurses make, what would a staff nurse pull in I wonder? Not nearly enough to cover my bills and loan repayments, I think. Besides, my grades should be good enough to get me into a more nurse-friendly facility come graduation if I don't screw up royally between now and August.
I skipped out of Pharm last Thursday to finish the article work, and I hear things went to hell rather quickly. The head of nursing at our school has made it rather clear though her demeanor and actions that she doesn't care about the student's learning experience, and hiring three PharmD's with no prior teaching experience for a "challenging" class like Pharm is just ridiculous. It would seem that some students were...loud in exclaiming their displeasure with the professor's teaching style as Thursday's class progressed. I don't think the guy's a good lecturer but I'm not going to stand up, yell "I can't take this anymore", throw my books on the desk, and storm out (an extreme example of what happened; there was apparently a lot of chatter and annoyed comments made during the lecture as well). That right there is just damned childish I cannot BELIEVE an adult in my class did that. Things like that make all of us look bad, and I feel like I should send an anonymous letter of apology to the professor. I talked to the guy for a while after the first class - he's green in the classroom but he's willing to listen to people's concerns. Jesus, frakking Pace students need to be slapped.
Refund came in. I budgeted for the BSG S1 Soundtrack (go me!) It's amazingly good.
Hmm. Is it Friday yet?
