Because [livejournal.com profile] xioley asked so kindly and then knitted me the most awesomest hat known to man I post this:

WVWYD - Version Tenacious D
Whose Voodoo Would You Do? - A maybe weekly feature where fredericks tries her damnedest to disprove the notion that she's not batshit crazy. Music groups past present AND future (admire the skills) will be presented and all you have to do is pick which member you'd, you know, do. Forget sexual orientation of the do-er (yourself) and the do-ees (the options) and just choose. Justifying one's choice is always welcome. Calls for an intervention? not so much.

In honor of its upcoming movie this week's group is Tenacious D. Formed on a whim by one comedian and one house musician, the D is proof that looks aren't everything. Sometimes just bein' able to rawk people's socks off is enough. That and somehow get a TV show under your belt after one year together.

[Poll #876845]

Saturday I a)hung the wrong medicine and b)gave a young woman my mother's number instead of my own twice. Needless to say I will never attempt to work twelve hours on four hours of sleep ever again.

Guitar Hero II continues to be awesome. This time around you can play Freebird. In the first game it was used as a bit of comedic relief ("they don't really want you to play Freebird, they're just playing with you"). This time around Freebird's the last song in the game: the crowd actually requests it and you're asked three times whether or not you actually want to play it. Here's the thing - it's not like the song's so hard as repetitive and LONG AS ALL HELL. My brother and I play it and we can clock around seven minutes of play before we're both making crazy mistakes because our concentration's shot to hell. It's a song that requires frequent hydration (Gatorade?).

Jo and I saw "The Queen" on Sunday. I enjoyed it, but found it hilarious how many people in the theatre were actually sniffling their way through all the Diana references. Jebus. Also - that movie is a breeding ground for QEII/Tony Blair fic, believe you me.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeep.

Both of those guys make me want to run for the hills. Meep!

Working 12 hours on 4 hours sleep = not good. I can't imagine how you did it. I can't even work 8 hours on 5 hours of sleep! *hands [livejournal.com profile] fredericks a cuddly Hiro to make everything better*

Yay Guitar Hero II!

guitar hero's a game I'd not mind trying. But I could forsee me getting frustrated with it since I actually play guitar [as well as the obvious drums] and I have a feeling it's not quite the same mechanics behind it...

KG BABY!!!! Me and him have the same first name(Kyle) and the same last initial(G-ass, G-ood)....so hence a quite reasonable excuse to do someone.

*grin* Oh, if only the Hiro wasn't cyber. And imaginary. :)

I'm going to try my best to go to bed at, like, 7PM tomorrow. Wish me luck.

It's not, but...it's fun? Seriously. You can pull hammer-ons and pull-offs in the game, and strumming is more or less the same except you have a white tab-like thing to contend with. Maybe mooch off a friend for a bit and see if you like it.

Okay, you've officially cracked my shit up. Best reasoning I've heard in a long time. :)

unfortunately, none of my friends even own a console. So I'm not able to mooch a bit.
[I don't even own a console - I'm a PC gamer]

I have a question.

I've been hearing a lot (especially on the SA Forums) about how great Guitar Hero is. Do I really need to have any sort of guitar playing or any musical skills at all to play? I know it comes with like a guitar controller or whatever, but how exactly does it work?

Okay, why wasn't I e-mailed this comment? Stoopid LJ.

I'd say rhythm helps (just being able to keep a beat) but the songs get harder as the game progresses so you learn as you go. The tutorials in Guitar Hero II are loads better than what's available in I, so if you're interested I'd suggest starting out with GHII and then getting I once (if?) you're comfortable with the gameplay (the songs in II are also easier than the ones in I, IMO).

The guitar controller has five buttons on the fret. All you do is press the corresponding buttons as they scroll by on the screen. You "strum" with your other hand to hit notes. The mechanics are similar to playing a real guitar, except your hand doesn't have to move half as much up and down the neck; it's all about how nimble your fingers are, more or less.
