I find myself much more amendable to all this wedding stuff after having been plied with beer and Romanian entrees. Finally (!) met this fiancee chap, and he's nice. Shy, quiet, but that makes him seem (on the surface, at least) a good match for my girl. We had a quick practice for the ceremony yesterday evening (she's Russian Orthodox, and the Cathedral was lovely), then the bishop (!) joined us for dinner at a Romanian restaurant named "Romanian Cuisine" (I know). I sort of wish my clergy was as fun and vibrant as hers, because I could see myself spending more time in church if it was the case. Dinner as a whole was lovely, and I hung out with the groom-to-be's brothers. Handsome, the lot of them, but quirky to the point that you could see that they'd all be mean drunks.

The thing about A. is...we first met a couple of months before freshman year of high school - we each decided to be uber-geeks and take shop class before the semester started - and she's a person I feel like I've always known. I was talking with her about this yesterday, in-between strains of semi-cheesy Romanian keyboard solos. We don't talk much nowadays, but when we meet up it's like she's been with me for the while. It's hard to explain. I just hope things work out for the best and that she's happy. And all that gushy stuff.

Damn, I just *know* I'm going to start with the waterworks tomorrow.
