1. Got recognized in front of the entire team (300+ nurses) for garnering positive feedback from a patient. Won a free t-shirt. Supposedly. It's on order. Who knows.

2. Visited three patients: two hours. Made numerous phone calls to MDs, nurses, and other various folk: seven hours. Team meeting: one and a half hours. [livejournal.com profile] fredericks's work day: seven point five hours. Hours [livejournal.com profile] fredericks worked today? ten point five hours. Overtime? not an option because I'm new.

3. Also not an option because I'm new? protesting being moved south (from the Upper West Side to Midtown) because there aren't enough patients for the other nurses in my area to share*. So, as of next week I lose all my patients and pick up for another nurse who's heading on vacation for two weeks. What the fuck I do after that no one knows. Will I have a job? Yes, because I'm fuckin' Union. Will I be happy being stuck working Midtown? Absolutely not. But I'm new, so goddamnit.

4. Saw "Tropic Thunder". Laughed until I cried. It sort of mediated the shit storm that was my afternoon. Never go full retard, y'all.

*My manager comes to me at 4:25PM and starts with "oh, you know we don't have enough patients for [the other two nurses in the area], so I'm going to have to look into moving you south. What do you have to say about that?" At which point I sort of stare at her for a moment and then go "well, I'm new; what am I supposed to say about that?" And she goes, in her usual blunt way "there's nothing you can say about it, now is there?" Which is when I seriously wanted to engage my "Choke-A-Bitch" button. Why even fucking ASK me, then? Jesus.

ugh. I hate it when bosses ask you your opinion on something that they really don't want it on. that sucks. I have a couple of days off next week if you wanna get some dinner/dessert/coffee what have you. I could meet you after work or something since I think they are in the middle of the week. Tropic Thunder sounds good!

My manager's funny in that she comes across as quite nice and sociable, but there are times when her tact slips and you just want to ask her what the fuck she's going on about. I'm never quite sure where I stand with her.

And a meet-up would be nice, if it's not going too far out of your way. I get the feeling next week is going to be baaaaaaaad. :(

Wow, that sucks :( You should be compensated for the hours you work...do you know how long it is until you can be?

I'm still up in the air about going to see Tropic Thunder....on the one hand, I love RDJ. On the other, Ben Stiller gives me the heebie jeebies.

Those freaked out by Ben Stiller unite! Or something.

Yeah...I can't put my finger on what it is about him, but definitely the creep force is strong with him.

i think part of it is that he has what i call "snake face." i can think of a few other celebs that have it, beck being one of them (though admittedly his snake face is cuter than ben stiller's). what i mean by that is, although the rest of his face changes expression, his eyes never seem to change with it. it's as though he's simply contorting his features for the sake of acting, without having any human emotion underneath whatsoever. does that make sense? to me that's creepy because a person like that is totally unpredictable; i can't read them like i do other humans. does that make any sense?

Because we have so few patients even though I'm still new I can't really justify staying in office an hour or two later to get all my crap done. I think my manager would grant it, but HER boss would throw a hissy fit, so the kibosh has been put on the deal. Usually I don't mind because I HATE to bring home with me, but yesterday it was just too much on top of the whole "talk".

Ben Stiller was the most annoying part of TT. I really really want to carry RDJ's kids now; he was beyond hilarious. We need, like, Ben Stiller filter goggles to make the experience work.

"What do you have to say about that?"
Wow, that is something quite bitchy to say. Just reeks of "You're nothing more than our bitch!" Especially with her response to you.

Tropic Thunder is recommended, then?

"Never go full retard". Tropic Thunder is just idiotically hilarious. Sometimes I felt bad for laughing, but meh. Full seal of approval. :)

Based on this recommendation, I have demanded that I be taken to see Tropic Thunder this weekend.

Which means I will drag his ass out the door and take him. But it'll be worth it! Nice!
